I ca see a series saying don't post on the site. Tony told CASCAR employee's not to post. I know this for a fact but he still couldn't prevent it as they cam on here with alias and I knew who they were and they told me and I never told anyone who they were.
But how can a track tell drivers or team members not to post on a site? Will this be part of the contract when you sign up to race there???
I find this funny one track doesn't use the board for the perpose of learning how to improve the track and get fans in the seat and now CRO is bad for every track. Come one this is funny and know others still use our site for a tool to promote and learn what people think of their place and make changes. You don't think a lot of people from tracks and series don't get ideas from here? Just because one guy wanted to take the info and battle with people as they didn't like what they were seeing doesn't make CRO bad. A lot of others don't get involved on here but read it and see what the fans and drivers and races want and make changes and they look good and I don't expect for them to log on and post I actually tell them it is not a good idea as I did with this other guy.
For track CRO is a tool for you to look like a hero and free promotion of your place and that is it.
I hear you Thayne. But I think that there is, and will be alot more said here than on Barries forum. The statement that outside forums mean bad infromation, means that they have only glanced and not realy read what is being said here. I have learned things here that I was'nt aware of. In my opinion, and Just my opinion, I feel that things will be missed if the veiw is held to 1 site.
So what! A track owner admits that he thinks monitoring a forum will do more harm than good. I agree. If I was in the same position I don't think I would bother. I would be for having a suggestion box at my track or a committee of drivers to relay the feelings of the drivers but to be honest a lot of this stuff is down in the dirt rumour and mudslinging not productive to business.
I find these forums are like that movie with Mel Gibson. He wished he could figure out women and at some point gets a bump on his head and he can now hear in his head what women are saying. Very amusing at first but after a while some of these things are better off not knowing.
I agree there is a lot of good that can go on here as mentioned by how well the drivers of Sunset and Barrie get along. I know for a fact since the two tracks get along so well these guys now have poker nights or go out on the town together. If you take a look at the other fresh new clean forum you will see it started out hassle free and squeaky clean and now you see mod posts to keep it clean or behave etc. It is just the way it is.
Evan this site would be best served if you focused on running this site instead of worrying about what track owners are thinking or saying about you. I would bet this is how the owners are thinking. They will focus on their program and keeping the grounds clean and drivers happy. I am not saying this as an insult but as a fact that anybody that is successful focuses on his task at hand not spending time deflecting rumours or changing other peoples opinions. If you look at any CEO of a major corporation (Donald Trump, Lea Iaccoca) or even a Prime Minister or President they have a host of people that despise them yet they focus and continue on with what needs to be done.
By even replying or making any mention to justify yourself or this site you are making it a situation. If the other person spews off nonsense and you have no reply it just makes them look childish or petty. If you are married you know exactly what I am talking about..lol. Just make the site look nice, make it efficient, make it clean and fun and people will come here. Don't worry about what others are doing and stop thinking out loud.
Just my opinion of course.
I did it to promote racing. Many owners like the forums and use the info on here to see what people really think and they even make changes based on what they read here or address them. Many have thanked me for the forums.
As the site owner. I have to look at everything and look at the forums and what people think of them and this includes track owners. So you saying not to worry about is wrong. Maybe worry is too big of a word but I do have to take it all in and that is how the site grows. When I don't look at these things means I could careless about the site and racing. I learn from them as well and others on here. I listen to what you and others write and I make changes if they needs to be changes made.
So me just looking straight and not see what is around me is not running my business well.
I don't think the Barrie owners are setting up a forum like this one. He just said it would be a direct link to the owners, more like a suggestion box. Jim said he would for sure read every post. I know the owners used to check this site at the beginning of the year, but the way there year started off & the stuff said on here, I think they got a little scared off.
On the topic I knew that the Late Model meeting would have some fireworks & it didn't disappoint, kinda funny to watch if you ask me..lol
are they allowing 16v cars this year?
