I agree that the early calls are stupid. I get why they do it and they don't deny that it is because they suspect a small crowd. This attitude will lose drivers, but in a year where the weather is this bad it may in the end save them money.
What they need to do is what Sunset has already done...insert 3 Sunday shows July/August/September.....so we can get more racing in, because currently we have had 6 race nights....3 of which have been wash outs.
thats what i told jim payetta yesterday on the phone
What was his reply Jim?
I think some Sunday rane dates would be a great idea. As for cancelling the races early it appears the new owners are damned if they do and damned if they dont. Yes thay may be calling it a little early and they may make a wrong call every now and then but it wasnt that long ago that everyone was mad at the old owners keeping everyone there for hours waiting out a storm being told the ariport says it will clear up in a feew minutes. As a fan I apprecaite being able to plan to do something else and not needlessly driving to the track (1 hour 20 min each way). I can only imagine the drivers that tow longer distances must REALLY APPRECIATE this also. JMHO
^^^^ thats a good point, I think if there was some planed out "rain dates" already on the schedule that said "will be implemeted if we have xxx number of rain outs", then calling it early and saveing everyone the hassle is the best move and I think everyone would understand that, but without that it's a hard call, cuse you could be screwed eaither way....if you call it to early, or have everyone show up for nothing.
