as for Herb not being a contender is way off, he ran '06 with 0 budget an overweight car and a handful of very bad luck and finished inside the top 5 in points (if I'm correct) now if being a top 5 points guy isn't contending I truely have zero idea of what is!! many drivers or racers in general (and I mean many) have won Championships with a little as 1 feature win or even none!! the "Checkers or Wreckers" mentality does not constitute a contender, but consistancey does and when it comes to consistancey in the thunder car class you can put Mr. Walters in the catagory with Doucette, Daveys, Remington, Reyns or whomever you deem very consistant I've witnessed many races with Herb in them and one thing is certain by the end of the night you can find him burried in the top 5 somewhere and that my friend you can take to the bank!

and to those who want to "bad mouth" The Duce and the rest of the Extreme team you can straight up suck-it!! they are some of the best people I've met at the track in a long time!! apparently now a days people don't respect plain oldfashion hard assed balls out effort to win, well folks in old Wades book that gets you an A+ so say what you want but sign me up for what ever it is the extreme team is upta cause I'm in!! and if you got something you wanna say don't be a pussy say it to thier faces!! I know at one point I did and trust me it was a good thing I did! Get the Sand out!! let's go racing and what breaks breaks!
If a track holds a invitational, they go by home track rules. If the rules for the class are in outer space ( like barrie's) the track has the right to not let some one run. If I ran at sunset with no load bolts, non adjustable sway bars, a rochester 2 bbl, and actual stock, non modified front suspension, steering and shocks, and a barrie challenger ( thats what you might as well call them) showed up, id want them on the trailer too! What about when sunset had no weight rule and they used to show up weighing 2500 pounds? Almost everywhere they went they had to put weight in. Was that fair? Mind you, take a close look at your t-car feature winner from sunset this sat. thats closer to a late model than barries are!
Thats because it is and old late model......its her dads old, and i mean old chassis that was run in late model back when he used to get slivers changing tires!

Wade......well said dude! I crewed for herb for many years and our '06 campaign was a success in my eyes, a non contender my arse. Top 5 in points on zero budget was a feat all on its own and the amount of blood and sweat that went into Bertha that year was insermountable! I had the joys of putting 2 bodies on the car for him and putting in late late nights to get him back to the track the following week! Oh, and Wade, do you remember the night that larry hit the oil slick and ended up back bumper in the drivers window ripping the body off the car and tearing bars out of the roll cage??? after a scary scary moment like that and it didnt even phase Herb, he crawled back in the car without a thought of what could have happened..... now being a non contender, Duct taping the body back on the car and going back out to finish 11th in a 20 car field all the while the the cars front wheels looked like a bad case of crazy eyes......there is no doubt in my mind that the guy can wheel, its in his blood, and he does it with one foot!! (crazy ass) For what the car was and how much it weighed, we did pretty damn good so I am gonna take a tiny bit of offence to that statement because when he was down and out we all came together to get his butt back in the car and go out and do what he does best, he is my best friend and I would do '06 all over again, even put out the $$ i did to help out the 0 budget he had (good thing the GF at the time didnt know about the $$ put out!!) LOL!
Remember I believe (correct me if wrong) but Myself and another friend were the first 2 the car (even before safety officials) I have spilled a pint or 2 of my own blood for Herb and would do it again in a heart beat!! oh wait I do still LOL
P.S Ok this is it I'm personally asking "The Duce" to make a trip to Sunset Saturday!!! we'd love to have ya hell kinda miss Ol' Dave anyhow it'd spice things up!!!
