well as for the thunder cars I say to our neighbours down south (the thrill on the hill LMFAO)  we will invade and destroy you your track is 1/3 mile Barrie is now 1/3 Mile so enough of the "Size Comparison" it's simple 1/3 mile is 1/3 mile I don't care how you slice it or dice it!!!  our Thunders run 15.6 almost as regular as grandma and our LLM are deep into the 14's so when the time comes we will layeth Down one good hard spankin' on Sunset's so called fast cars!!  as for the 00 and 44 being illeagle as you say....  well what you have here is two teams with sufficiant funds to build a car to the extent of the rule book both ways one "New Gen" the other "Old Gen" both have great engine programs and really good chassis tech (suspension included)  and both guys are capable drivers so what you have there is the recipy for a damn fast race car!! No we don't have the "so-called" $3000 shock set up that they say, the Pro shock and QA1 are about $10 difference in cost, this should be a lesson to all do you homework, you don't squeeze the wallet, you flex it, and if you know how to drive then you will find your way to Victory lane!!  it has been for years and years that if you can win @  Barrie you can win everywhere!! now quit your bellyaching and get your face in the books, if you spent half the time figuring out how to make your team fast as you do flappin' your uneducated gums on here you'd be a winner too!!! and tell your LLM friends too then they might just break the 14's LMAO you my friend are a fool for even attending that Dump they call a race track!!! the best thing there is Spencer Lewis!!

Well I have listened to everyone's opinion, you all have yours, and are entitled to them. I also have my opinion and I am entitled to it too, after all I'm the guy paying the tab on my car, so I will choose where to run it. I didn't say that I didn't enjoy the racing at Sunset, I did, and I attended there for two years fairly regularly. And the year before that I followed the Vintage Mods so I got to see the show at many different places. That being said I like Barrie. Competition is when there are a bunch of different cars that could win on any given night. So we could be describing just about any track you wish to name. Barrie Thunders like the 44 and 00 are running 15.6 on any given night, some other cars are a little slower and some are a full second slower. Some people are alleging that they are illegal. None of this has been proven of course, both of those cars are at the top of the points. I am putting the money into my car, making sure it is all very legal. My point was only that I took a fast Sunset car from not too long ago, and explained that there is much work to be done to get it to the standard of the top runners at Barrie. I'm not slagging Sunset, it's just different. Sunset is also a market that gets the GTA family crowd, and I know they can't fit as many people in the stands bench for bench as Barrie, there's not enough room. The night the Super Lates were at Barrie it was pretty packed too. I would suggest the fastest Thunder cars in Ontario are from Barrie and the Delaware Super Stocks move too. And I remember you from last year smokinjoe00 you did very well here, hope to see you up here again. I was at Sauble on the May 24, I can't remember seeing you there. As I recall last year Rob Poole (Sunset #45, crash) and Tyler Liscum #14 didn't do very well here. And Flyin' Frank (last years champ) has two wins, same as Doucette and St.Onge. Davey does well wherever he goes, he put the hurt on Sunset and then came here, but he's not running away with it this year either. As I was saying, we will see what happens at the invitationals, depending on who shows...

I don't really think one track is any better than any other than facilities for washrooms .Racing is racing . I tend to go to Barrie as I ran there some years ago and still have alot of friends who run there .If they all moved to Sunset  ,I would follow them there . I went to watch my fiancee's son run his Mustang at Oshweken last Fri night and had a great time watching him go from the back to second . The Patriot sprints were awesome also . I have to say that a Dirt track in Simcoe county would be cool but would it really work up here ,there is no tradition for dirt like the Niagara region has . I realize you people just like to slag each other but for the love of Pete Sheperd ,it's getting really old . Some intelligent opinion from the some  of the members on this site is just  a dream it appears .

There is always going to be a rivalry betweeen the two places, which i think is just healthy fun. I also think that it is neat how both tracks offer somehting different. Sunset has a car count and Barrie has the car quality (this cannot be argued). The way I see it is...Sunset in the very near future will all be a subdivision and its unfortunate, but the man who pays hte bills there is a business man first and foremost,s o hebought the place for the property and everyone knows it. Hopefully somehting an be done, cause like i said there is nothing like the rivalry fo it all! Good luck to all. I will be running thursday night btw!

I agree that it will eventually be a subdivision, however your assesment of the near future is off for two reasons.  1.  The environmental  issues of that property (not the speedway as much as the property behind it) will take years to sort out.  2.  There are approved plans for a subdivision across the road from my house in Innisfil, and it will be 10 years before I see a house built.  You combine those two factors, it will be 15 years before you see anything like that.  And in 15 years anything can happen.  Take Barrie Speedway for instance.  In the early 80's, it was one of the places to be.  Then it was shut down in the mid 90's.  I agree with the quality of the cars at Barrie, particularly in the top 8 LLM, but lets be honest here, 14 cars should be a heat race, not a feature.
