I don't care what is said Sunset is a bigger hence the times, this year Barrie has zero invitationals except at the end, the main invitationals that are easy for any class to attend will be on a Friday at Kawartha, but Friday is a tough day to travel and based on the past the only drivers left at Barrie who might show are Dwayne Baker or Mike Brown .Last year the #47 Walters was the top Barrie car at most of the invitationals, now he's representing Sunset and Kawartha its gonna be interesting l can't wait.
Thunder 6 I might buy into that if the Thunder car that finished 2 nd in the points at Sunset in 05 didn't go up to Barrie and win the points in 06 . The best Thunder car I have seen in Ontario IMO is the #23 at Sunset . I did not say the best driver just the best car .
Depending how busy I am Thursday I am going to try to get up and watch the special ,I hope allot of Barrie cars show up.
Pinecrest the fastest thunder cars in Ontario are 44 and 00 they run at Barrie and are so illegal they should have a Canada wide warrant issued on them.
That is a tipical Barrie smart a## remark,if you get ur head out of ur ##### and come out of the fog, come to Sunset and watch a real show .
I know I'm not going to waste any time or money on Sunset this year. The show sucks and has for years now. It's boring, the flagging stinks and the cars are slow. They have nothing to offer that interests me at all. If I want interesting and FAST racing I'll be at Barrie to see it. I see they still insist on the "fastest third mile in Ontario" myth as well. Better check that. Barrie is a second and a half faster. When Sunset llm's break under 15 sec laps then they might have something to crow about, but that's not going to happen. Somebody needs to do the right thing and tear up the pavement and go dirt. That's the only worthwhile course of action because Barrie has the asphalt scene more than covered. Just another opinion.
Dster you make some good points Sunset does have a flagging issue and their LLM may not be quite as quick as Barrie's but they do seem to have a better car count and as most people realize its not how quick the field is its how competitive they are . Speaking to some people today they said the OSCAAR race last night was packed and they had to park cars on #11 . I would say that Barrie's and Sunsets Thunder cars are pretty much even overall and of course Sunsets Mini stocks are faster because of the 16v rule . In a perfect world Sunset would run on Fridays and Barrie would run Saturdays and both would benefit with running the same rules but I just don't see that happening anytime soon under the current ownership .
As for your idea of turning Sunset into a dirt track I think that would be fantastic but I don't see that happening either.
There were 27 Thunders at Sunset last night, and they put on a great show. the OSCAAR race was fantastic with few wrecks and some incredible passing on the outside. I agree with the flagging, as there were issues last night. It has been mentioned that Barrie & Sunset are the difference between rep and house league, however you have to remember that even if the cars are slower by a second or two, that doesn't mean that there can't be good racing.
You are brainwashed if you think the cars or drivers are any beter at Barrie than Sunset or vice versa, maybe l was not paying attention when some one said Geof Gordon, Tony Stewart or Jimmy Johson was running at Barrie,I heard names like Keith Mcloud (who did nothin at Sunset) and Dave Doucette they are no better or worse than any drivers Sunset has don't sell yourself short Barrie has to have an excuse for having far less cars than Sunset, Sunset has the best racin, the most cars and the most fans and thats all that matters.
i run a thunder car at sauble and ran specials at both sunset and barrie last year with top 10 finishes at both tracks.....the best thunder in ontario last year was the 45 car of poole a sunset car........i find sunset the better place to run..just my opinion...
