It was a rainy day for the most part, but the skies parted just in time and we were able to go racing on what was a big night for the Late Models as they were scheduled for twin 40 lappers.

In the first 40 lapper for the LLM class there would be some early fights for the lead as the fast guys were at the front, after time trials. The 19 of Keith McLeod would get out to the front, and his car looked stout all night long. The 48 of Dwayne Baker did not fair so well in this race as he would find himself having to fight through traffic. Every pass he made was important as the man chasing him down int eh points was at the front of the field with a 4 car seperation.  Lewis and the 97 of Rob Inglis were there as well, but neither of them had anythong for the LOOK company Dodge as McLeod would take the cjheckers for the win. Everyone was running pretty clean as they knew they ahd another feature in the not so distant future.

The Charger feature I unfortunately did not get to see but I do know that California dave Crumbie with a plate and two srew in his wrist took the feature win and made some gains in his points lead. His closest competitior is the 55 of Shawn Monnette, who finished 3rd on the night. My mom said it was a good, clkean race....so hopefully the fans all enjoyed it.

In the Pure Stock feature, I was racing and I led the first 4-ish laps, my car is startin to hook up a bit....made a gear change and the car really seemed to like it. Anyways, I saw the 16 of Bryan Penny slice between me and the 45 of Derek Sererus, I tried to block him form coming up but my car pshed up and he got a hole...it was a really nice move for the lead by him. We were all really bunched up as those two took off to the races. All of the faster cars...63X Dave Burrows and 33 of Dave Galze, were all mired back in Traffic...Beau Burrows was able to break thorugh, btu he did nto ahev enough time to run the two imports down. It would be the 16 of Bryan Penny int eh Honda and the 45 of Derek Sererus in the Volkswagon. Penny would take the win at the line with Sererus in second and Beau Beau round ing out the top 3....we went caution free, which is good because lately i have been in all the cautions...lol..

In the Thunder Car feature There would be some early theatrics as the 00 of Darryl St. Onge would get into the back of the 77 of Brian Murray sending him into the 82 of Ben Lidstone. St. Onge would continue and Murray and Lidstone would ahve to go to the back and their cars were rather banged up. When we went green again the 49 of Flyin Frank Davey, who told me he put a new spring and two new front tires on his car WAS FLYING...jsut like his monaquer eludes to....he was dicing thorugh cars on the way to the front as the 00 and 44 of Dave Doucette were beeting and banging on each other till kingdom come...They were moving through the pack as well though.... The 49 of FLyin' Frank Davey would easily grab the win on this night though, and for the second weekend in the row. It will be interesting to see the points now as Ducette finished one spot ahead of St.Onge as well.

In the final 40 lapper of the ngiht for the late models, the fast guys would be starting at the back as they inverted the qualifying order. The McLeod-Baker points difference was down to 6 after the first race, so these two guys were racing each other as much as they were racing everyone else. The race would see the 69 of Alan Inglis and the 28 of Robin "the young one" Jongen (i made the nickname lol) battlign it out inthe early stages for the lead. The 69 seemed ot ahve the advantage on the bottom and a couple cars would follow suit as the 28 moved back to 4th. The 28 had a real hotrod on this night though and lucky for him there was no Dwayne Baker right behind him to steal the win. On a lap 28 restart Jongen would go to the outside and show his muscle. His car was on rails and he moved past the 8 of Dave Lewis and the 69 of Inglis and into the lead. He then began to really check out. A late race caution would fly. Baker and Mcleod were nose to tail in 3rd and 4th. Jongen's lead had evaporated and it looked like the 10 of Gord Shepherd and the 8 of Dave Lewis were coming. Shepherd's car seemed to be really good on a long run, fortunately for jongen he had only 7 laps left. Jongen got a good restart but so too did Lewis, with Shepherd right on his bumper, but there was jsut no time as jogen had a car length on the two. Jongen would cruise to the checkers to take his first LLM win after getting beat at the line just a couple weeks ago. Lewis, Shepher, Baker and McLeod would round out bthe top 5.

It was a great night of racing as the rain held off. Our best wishes go out to the man hurt int he King oif The Hill accident that I am sure will be discussed rediculously on here for the next week....cheers everyone

Yeah all in all a good night of racing... Thanks for your awesome as usual report Thayne. It was great to see Dave Vokey back from his trip, he stopped by my pit for a chat... Thayne your car is starting to really run good. All the hard work is paying off! I was happy to see Gord Shepherd doing well, his car ran great last night... And Frank Davey really lived up to his name as well. The announcer said he ran a 15.56 in one of the heats, when I was talking to Frank he said that was his fastest ever. Maybe the Thunder Car division is going to have a three way race to the Championship! I was elated that the weather held off, I really didn't think we were going to get the show in. Proving even the "higher power" is a Barrie Speedway fan!  ;D
