way2fast I don't know where you find a listing for a 2.3 that came in a Mustang that made 110 hp but the highest rated 2.3 I show listed is the 8 plug efi engine that made 105 hp . I have listings for 5 different cams , 2 for efi engines. You are right that no naturally aspirated 2.3 ever came with a cam that had more then .400 valve lift or lobe lift of more then .2437
Heres where the real problems are IMO. Valves- stock ext - 1.50 int 1.73 I know several cars were running much larger valves .
EFI cars were running larger throttle bodies from the truck and 2.5 engine and no one at Barrie seemed to even know what size throttle body came on an efi Mustang so even if it was a stock for that motor they did not know if it had been ported / bored.
Two Mustangs that accounted for a total of 7 feature wins (do the math) were running 5.7 rods . One was using the Chevy rod and the other the Crower sportsmen rod that you do not have to turn down to fit the stock crank . I strongly suspect others were running these rods as well .
I know that some efi Mustangs were running illegal computers . There were only 3 units made for Mustangs and they were 60 pin units with codes of FB2 or D1L1 or 8CC all the rest are illegal because they did not come on standard shift naturally aspirated Mustangs .
There was other shenanigans going on but this is where the bulk of the cheating was going on .
Hey Pinecrest how do you know what these mustangs were running? were you the teck guy ? im sure these cars were tecked through out the year! im sure one of them had the head off and the valves were measured. And didn't the track bring in a complete motor (intake to oil pan)to compare to these mustangs.I think you should have your facts straight on what people are running before you say there cheating!

If you want to charge me 4 k to 6 k to build a 2.3 Ford you better not be giving me some stock rod engine .
Heres a little something else for you to consider while running an illegal cam (reground) last year our car was pulled into tech . They decided to check the cam so we figured we were up the creek with out a paddle . I dont know if they were dial indacator challanged but when they told us that we were legal I almost fell over ..

wow you know more about my car then i do.even my bill to have it made,could of swore they were stock rods and a 2.3 throttle body.good idea with the 2.5 though(wish i had thought of it)i don't know what brandon ran but i could guess like you have.valves also stock everything matched the motor they brought in to tech 2.3l mustangs,could possible be that my car turned well cause it sure wasn't the fast car out there.anyway jerk off thanks for the ideas to cheat next year.
