I think Iggy is a myth. Just wait....he is Dion in an Iggy mask  😉

Do politics and racing mix  😮  ;D Probably should stop before it gets nasty  😉

Ok not too sure how many of you are aware but we had a officials meeting over the weekend at the BMC, so thought I'd update you on some of the findings as I retained them.. First off relating to the schedule:: I personally lobbied for the re instation of the Mid Season championships, and the owners were indeed receptive and they have been reinstated and the schedule changed to reflect that. July 18th will now be known as the Northline Contracting Mid Season Championship night with 50 lap LLM, 40 lap Thunder Car, and 30 lap Pure Stock features. Not positive if the LLM will run the 25 lap "fast car to the front" feature as well this night, but I'm assuming that to be the case.. Not sure if the purse will be increased marginally this night or not either, but was assured that a really nice trophy will be presented to feature winners, and you have the recognition of also being called Mid Season champ, continuing a long standing BSW tradition.. This is something I wanted personally, cause as a writer I like to drum up hype for Mid Season races, and it produced some great racing in years past as I felt the drivers would really push the envelope on these nights in the extra distance features, as I mentioned in an earlier post.. So all you drivers can thank me later!!!LOL Another thing that came out of the meeting was that all restarts this year will be double up format as opposed to the 1-2-3 double up that we ran last season. And no worries it wont be that kooky "pick a lane " format either, it will be 1st place to the pole, 2nd place to outside pole, 3rd place to inside row 2 etc. Another really positive thing that came out was the fact that Kawartha promoter Derek Lynch has been hired on to be the race director for the opening few months as I understand it, and he's going to be showing Jim Payetta the ropes as it relates to dealing with drivers and on track issues and such, with Jim eventually taking over the race directors job on a full time basis once he gets comfortable with that position.. Saw this as a really positive move as we all know the efficiency and promptness Derek runs the show at Kawartha with, and if he can bring an inkling of his expertise to BSW and give us all some positive suggestions on how to better the show were all winners in the end: owners, fans, drivers, and officials alike. Lastly, it appears Atherley Towing is returning as the official tow company for BSW and these guys are great with the efficiency they showed at removing cars from the track which should also help with running a speedy and efficient show.. Not to belittle Graves Towing who did the job last season as they are also friends of mine, but they were new at it last season and at times it seemed to take an exorbanent amount of time in removing some of the damaged cars from the track. I'm sure they wanted to be cautious on the side of making error or causing more damage to cars, but at points last year it got to be a little much as a spectator.. I think the clean up crew will also be much improved as the same fellows who came on board at mid season last year will also be returning, so should be free and clear of issues there as well.. Just further on the Graves Towing subject, I noticed there now the official tow company of Sunset, which made me wonder if Thunder Car driver #15 Donny Brandon might follow them there as they are his main sponsor??? And if Donny moves south, might #22 Jason Elliott follow??? The two are very close friends and enjoy racing against each other from all accounts, and Jason is also pretty tight with Sunset Outlaw driver Matt Henderson as they share the same sponsor as well........ Just food for thought but if you know anything concrete as it relates to these two guys I'd sure like to know... It would hurt losing two of our top 10 Thunder cars to that track to the south, but I also understand business is business and Barrie Speedway will carry on regardless... I personally hope to see both Donny and Jason back, as both made major strides last season... Just a side note I'm going to be changing some of my picks in the prediction thread in the near future, as I have recently discovered that a few of the guys I picked to be finishing top 3 in season points at BSW either wont be racing at all in 09, or are on the move to different tracks, so look for that in the near future!!LOL And theres the completion of yet another long BLKFLAGAGAIN rant!!!! FROM THE CHEAP SEATS
