The weather barely cooperated, but the Saskatoon Stock Car Racing
Association started handing out championship trophies Saturday at the
Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.  A cool damp morning turned into not too
bad of an afternoon.

First up was the Big Bore Directional Drilling Super Trucks.  With two
feature wins under his belt over the summer, Wade Lee of Calgary picked
up the championship trophy in the #74 Super Truck, finishing only four
points ahead of #76 Dusty O’Connell of Lloydminster.

There was some movement in the FFUN Motor Group Pro Truck Division
Saturday.  The #12 of Aaron Deagnon came into the race day with a five
point lead over #10 Kevin Dyck, with the #67 of Ken Ross a further five
points behind.  At the end of the day Ken Ross jumped into second place,
but Aaron Deagnon managed to hang on for the FFUN Motor Group Pro Truck
championship trophy in the #12 Great Canadian Oil Change Dodge Ram.

The afternoon started just like many other race days, with a couple of
new track records.  In the super trucks, the #27 of Scott Lucas from
Prince Albert set down a new record at 14.887 seconds.  A short time
late Alex Leschenko set a new record in the FFUN Motor Group Pro Truck
division with a lap time of 15.618 seconds with the #01 Family Pizza
Ford F150.

#10 Kevin Dyck took the first Pro Truck heat race ahead of the #67 of
Ken Ross, while #19 Aaron Anderson took the second heat race ahead of
#14 Wade Wohlford.  #12 Aaron Deagnon picked up the checkers in the
first Pro Truck qualifier ahead of #19 Aaron Anderson, while #01 Alex
Leschenko took the win in the second qualifier.

In the FFUN Motor Group Pro Truck feature, Aaron Anderson picked up his
second feature win of the year with the #19 Ens Auto Group Toyota,
beating Ken Ross’ #67 Grace Beyer Remax Silverado to the line.  Shantel
Firth picked up third in the #49 Prairie Dodge Dealers Dodge Ram.

In the Big Bore Directional Drilling Super Trucks, #20 Neil Fitzgerald
took the first heat, beating out the #99 of Doug Fischer.  #27 Scott
Lucas took the second heat ahead of the #18 of Scott Larson.  But in the
all-important 100 lap Big Bore Directional Drilling Super Truck 100 lap
feature, the #74 of Wade Lee was unbeatable, finishing ahead of the #76
of Dusty O’Connell and the #20 of Neil Fitzgerald.

In Mac’s Legends cars action, the #21 of Blake Erb picked up the win in
Heat 1A with #7 of Brian Morrison taking the Heat 1B.  Heat 2A was also
topped by #21 Blake Erb and the #2 of Kerry Neufeld took Heat 2B.

The overall winner of the Mac’s Froster 50 was Calgary’s #17 Ira Laughy,
with #21 Blake Erb second and #H2O Darrell Buckingham third.  #19 Greg
Slater was the top semi-pro driver, finishing in 9th.

Next week the championship rounds continue as winners are determined in
the Brock Salvage Pro Truck Division, the Mid West Combustion Sportsman
Division, the WSSL Super Late Model Division, the Kreepy Kritterz Pest
Control Mini Stock Division and of course the Dakota Dunes Casino
Western Canada Super Late Model Championship Series.

It will be a cross border challenge as Saskatoon’s #55 Jim Gaunt is tied
atop the Dakota Dunes Series points with #5 Ryan Wells from Hingham
Montana at 261 points.  #99 Doug Fischer from Lloydminster is third at
230 points.

In the Mid West Combustion Sportsman Division, #12 Matthew Shirley has a
20 point lead over #07 Casey Randall.  13 points back is #04 Tim Kammer.

#38 of Dave Bone has a six point lead over #88 Jason Gervais in the WSSL
Auto Parts Super Late Model division, with #62 Kenny Heintz sitting in
third.

The #44 of Craig Katelnikoff has the Brock Salvage Street Stock
Championship all but sewn up with a 66 point lead over #42 Nicole
Sheetka.  A perfect night in street stocks is 80 points, so Craig should
just have to start two of the three races next week to take home the
trophy.  #81 Curtis Houben is sitting in third, a very successful year
for a thunder stock switchover.

Racing next Saturday, September 20 starts at 2:00 p.m.  The front gates
open at 12:30.  This will be racing action you won’t want to miss
