Race fans came out to enjoy a warm Saturday afternoon at Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway as the Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association kicked off
its 52nd race season.

To start the afternoon off race fans saw two track records fall.  First
the #44 of Craig Katelnikoff shaved 0.044 seconds of the street stock
track record he set last year, turning a time in of 16.419 seconds.  Not
to be outdone, in the pro truck division Kevin Dyck shattered the track
record held by Aaron Anderson, taking his #10 truck around the track in
15.786 seconds, knocking a full 0.309 seconds off the old record.

Kevin Dyck firmly planted himself as the points leader also winning the
first pro truck heat race and the FFUN Motor Group Pro Truck 60 lap
feature race.  The #67 of Ken Ross took the second heat race, with the
#19 of Aaron Anderson and the #18 of Bill Zubrecki each winning a
qualifier race.

In the mini stocks #95 Robin Boomsma was the fast time in at 17.348
seconds as well as first place points in the mini stock heat race and
the Kreepy Kritterz Pest Control 30 lap Mini Stock Feature.  The #92 of
Brennan Kirton took the checkered flag in the mini stock qualifier race.

Besides a track record in the street stocks, #44 Craig Katelnikoff also
picked up the street stock heat race win and the Brock Salvage Street
Stock 30 lap feature.  #81 Curtis Houben was the first across the line
in the street stock qualifier.

Next weekend the season kickoff continues with the WSSL Auto Parts Super
Late Models, the Earth Works Sask Legends taking the track, joined again
by the Brock Salvage Street Stocks and the first race ever for the brand
new division of the Bandoleros, featuring drivers as young as eight
years of age.

Racing next Saturday, May 31 starts at 2:05 pm, with the front gates
opening at 12:30.  Don't miss it!
