Auto Clearing Motor Speedway

It was double feature night for the mini stocks as the Saskatoon Stock
Car Racing Association begins the task of trying to run some make up
races due to all the rainouts at the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.
Different divisions are running a second feature certain nights to make
up for some lost points.
It was a strong night for the rebuilt #88 driven by Kenton Sanderson.
Missing a couple of race meets after a meeting with the wall, Kenton
picked up the first win ever for the #88 in the mini stock qualifier and
led much of the first feature, before giving up the lead to Robin
Boomsma with seven laps remaining.
Boomsma took the win in the mini stock heat with the #95 Five Star
Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Neon ahead of the #92 of Brennan
Kirton. The #88 of Kenton Sanderson took the qualifier race ahead of
Boomsma.
Robin Boomsma was the winner of the first feature, just beating out
Sanderson, while Jamie Tataryn took the final Kreepy Kritterz Pest
Control Mini Stock feature of the night in the #41 Streetwise Service
Neon, with Brennan Kirton taking second in the #92 Denny’s Family
Restaurant Honda Prelude. Boomsma hung on for third.
Four different winners in the Pro Truck division tonight. Aaron
Anderson took wins in the second heat race and first qualifier with the
#19 Ens Auto Group Toyota Tundra. Alex Leschenko was first in the first
heat in the #01 Family Pizza Ford.
Taking home the commemorative checkered flag in the FUNN Motor Group Pro
Truck Feature race was the #15 D&S Developments Dodge Ram driven by
Andrew Hardy. Bill Zubrecki was second in the #18 Bugsy’s Bar & Grill
Silverado, with Aaron Deagnon third in the #12 Great Canadian Oil Change
Dodge Ram.
Super Trucks always means super racing and the Big Bore Drilling Super
Trucks delivered just that. It was a quick turnaround as the super
trucks raced in Montana last weekend, but they were ready to deliver.
Scott Lucas set a new track record in the super truck division, turning
a time of 14.958 seconds. While Lucas only took 2 1/1000th of a second
(.002) off the old record, it shows the track at Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway, known as “Canada’s Fast Track” is getting faster. This was
the sixth track record set in the last two weeks in different divisions.
The #74 of Wade Lee out of Calgary took the win in the first Super Truck
Heat, while Outlook’s #9 of Tony Mikulcik took the second Super Truck
Heat. Wade Lee was the big winner of the night though, taking the
checkers in the Big Bore Drilling 100. #20 Neil Fitzgerald of
Wainwright was second and #27 Scott Lucas from Prince Albert was third.
We move to Friday for next weekend’s racing action as the FFUN Motor
Group Pro Trucks will be the double feature division, along with the
WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Models and the Brock Salvage Street Stocks.
The special feature of the night will be the FFUN Motor Group racing in
honour of our military.
Racing is Friday night, August 1st, with the front gates open at 6:00
and the first green flag at 7:05. What a way to start a long weekend.
Don’t miss the action!
