Varney pays out winnings for invitationals? Give your head a good shake. We went to Varney for an invitational and supposedly won $45.00 and haven't been able to collect.

You have to go back and pay a pit entrance to get to the booth to pick up your winnings. They wont mail it and they don't return phone messages or e-mails.

Take the amount you supposedly won, subtract the $18.00 pit entrance for 2 trips, the gas for 2 trips, and your time for the 2nd trip.... even if you win the feature - it is coming out of your pocket one way or another.

It seems you have to be a regular Varney runner to have a chance of collecting anything.

Regulars at Varney don't get paid out for invitationals until the following week like normal.  Out of towners get paid that night.  You are the first that I've heard about not getting paid.  Did you go ask that night?

We have gone with about 4 or 5 other cars from Flamboro and all us have been paid both times this year.

We have always felt, if we race an invitational and we make enough to cover gas in the race car and the extra we pay to sit in the pits, then weve done great. We would be driving there to watch the top drivers around race anyways because we are racefans too.

Vlm ....I was told that I had to collect the next time I came up. As I said in the post, I've called and left phone messages, e-mailed the promotions and the race director. Left a number for someone to call me.

No one at Varney has seen fit to give me the courtesy of a reply and I've been very courteous... it's not the $45.00 that burns my britches ...the money wont make a break my racing budget.... it's the lack of common decency.

What does it take to return a phone call or e-mail? How much does an envelope and a stamp cost?

To resolve this, it is going to take a 3 hour round trip and a pit entrance .... I'd rather put the money and time I would have to spend to collect the $45.00 into the race car.

Will I go back to Varney to race .... sure it's a fun track to run. We'll be back if the traveling series we are part of goes there ... and if we happen to have a weekend off from our regular schedule next year - maybe, maybe not. Unfortunately too late to recover any respect I had for the track operators, not to mention the $45.00.

Going to run Sauble this weekend instead.
