dad is debatning the trip to Varney for that show!
If your worried about making money racing isnt something to be in..lol.
"How to make a million in racing, start with 3..." that is the best line i have ever read on this board.
I always figured if its a good show, I would be there to watch anyways, so if I make enough to pay the extra pit admission price and gas in the race car I'm ahead. Mind you we have less than $1000 in our car and run on junk yard tires so we dont spend money either.
The last 2 invitationals if you didnt qualify for the feature you got $25 and $30 plus a bonus to the "out of towners" of another $20.....who else pays "out of towners" $20 extra ? This little track goes out of its way for their drivers, alot more than others that is for sure. Unfortunately we cant make the Saturday show because of the Flamboro points race, but we'll be there Sunday with a few more friends. And if the weather is good, maybe sneak in late Saturday nite for the party.

Since you asked... Capital City, and Barrie invitational $35 tow...
Payouts for the LLM's increased from $50 to $90 to start plus increased $ from 5th on back. Details at www.varneymotorspeedway.com
Considering you are paying $50 backgate for the weekend, all cars finshing below 16th in sunday, take a loss on what they paid for admission... Bring a crew member at you have to get 8th or better to break even on your ADMISSION!!
As much as I support the tracks in supporting reasonable payouts, drivers still are the show, and paying the speedway to be the show is just silly..
Honestly, its thundercar, not 4-funs...
Thunder purse total for 24 postions - $3,340
amount backgate with 24 cars with 2 people each - $2400 (min)
amount paid out above the MINIMUM backgate take - $940!!!!!!
amount backgate with 24 cars and 3 people/crew each - $3,600 - $260 MORE than the purse.
