After I talked to the #75 after the feature, my understanding was he was docked a spot for rough driving. Not sure if that is the official decision or not, but the 75 seemed to be ok with it.
there was no lapped car involved
Then the race report should be changed so I can remove my rant :-X 😉
there was no lapped car involved
If the 86 car wasn't there, mast had a clean line. you clearly gave him the inside. i think he hit you trying to keep the line you gave him without running over the 86. whether he had to hit you or not is subject to debate. i don't have a photographic memory but, i do take notes as the race progresses so that i am accurate as possible in my reporting. the way i reported is what i saw. this i will say, if the 86 wasn't in turn four with you guys, you had mast beat anyway. i don't know what the official ruling was that put mast second but, it sure was confusing as hell and was never clearly explained. if mast is cool with the ruling then, i'm sure the explanation made sense based on the rule book and you deserved the win for a hard fought race. we all know that if he didn't agree, like so many others this season, we would have all heard about it over and over again. like i said, you ran an awesome race and congratulations on the win.
Are you saying because the leader couldn't navigate around a lapped car on the last lap and the second place car could get around the leader and win, that the track determined if the lapped car wasn't there he would have won so they gave him the win anyways ??? ??? ???
No not at all. What happened was this.....and of course it is subject to one's own opinion.......
Coming into the final turn, 35 was leading and 75 got to the inside. The 86 was just ahead so, it appeared the 75 moved up the track and into the 35 to get by the 86. this almost took out the 35 but, he hung on and then the 35 and 75 ran to the checkers with the 75 getting there first.
35 was given the win and 75 given second. All I'm trying to say is, first...if there was no black flag given to anybody, how did they determine this ruling and, second, is there a rule that says a driver can be penalized one position for rough driving? No one has been able to show me this rule so, this is where the confusion is.
Scott's a good guy. Tim's a good guy. They both ran an amazing race. I just don't understand how this outcome was determined. Didn't something similar happen in Nationwide this past weekend? Did they decide to give Keselowski the win because if Edwards didn't hit him, he probably would have won? I don't think so. Edwards kept the win.
I knew someone was eventually going to attempt an Edwards / Keselowski comparison somewhere down the line :):):) but hey, completely different race and circumstance let alone stock 4 cylinder class and NASCAR Nationwide.
Now that said, I didn't see the race at Varney so it's kinda hard to make any kind of judgement.
And if the 75 had a chat with the starter and was okay with it, then there's no story here.
Sounds like the 75 tried to squeeze into a hole between the 86 (low) and 35 (high and outside) - where there wasn't one in the middle.
If that's considered rough driving then I can see why the 35 won. There's no need to wave a black flag, since there's no more laps to race...
Was the 75 warned about rough driving earlier in the race? ie: contact by the 75 with other cars during the feature? You'd have to talk to the 75 and starter to determine that.
