The Stock 4 races were pretty awesome. Cremasco had the first one in the bag but, spun in turn two after taking the white. I didn't see what happened but, I think he was working through lapped traffic when it happened. Crumbie drove around for the win. In the second feature, Crumbie started at the back and simply devoured the field one-by-one to hang on for the win. Cremasco was there the whole way though in both races. Could have gone either way.
Although there were only 5 Street Stocks, it was the race of the night. Loughnan had em covered in the first feature but, the second was awesome. Loughnan and Kusick (driving Zettler's 02) raced each other so hard with only a bit of rubbin until the last lap. They got together going into turn three and McDougall, who was in the hunt all race long too, squeezed by on the outside for the win. The Fans will tell you, this was the best race of the night even with just the five cars.
If we had even just five or six more street stocks, this class could be the highlight every night. It is so even up here right now.
It was a good night of racing....thrilling wins, hard hits, bruised egos.....it was all there!
I know that Crumbie will be back saturday night in the Mustang again to give the fans another thrill as he did this past Sunday as we are making some changes to the car to make it legal for Varney, after that my son hopefully will finish the year there in that car. The racing was fun and close as I had timed quite a few during practice and their lap times were pretty clopse to each other, it was just who could negotiate traffic the best. Hopefully Clark is good to go after his wreck during time trials, glad to see him walking around after.
Yes...it was good to see Clark walking after. If you look at the pics on the website, he pretty much hit that wall head on.
Clark seems to be okay....the car....not so much. If what Clark said after the wreck is accurate, he's probably already cut what was good out of the car and scrapped it.
A shame really. He ran so many seasons with his older car. This new one has been into the wall hard twice this season already.
He does still have his older car but, he may decide to take a "time out" for a couple weeks.
On another note, I'm looking forward to seeing the "Ficker-mobile" finish the season at Varney. I'm also anxious to see how it competes on a "regular" race night too.
Well I know it got loaded last night onto the trailer spare parts packed and tires done so the crew will be heading out later today for more fun. Wish I myself could be there but unfortunenately I have to crew for the 64 Mini at its home track but I know they will keep me updated as to how the car goes Saturday night.
btw, is Brandon pulling double-duty this Saturday then?
Stock 4 and Late Model?
I really think he is on the verge of a win in the Late Models. His car seems to like the extended lap features. It gets quicker as the others slow. Either that or, it stays the same as the others slow.
Good bunch of guys and I hope he gets his first by the end of the year.
