McMaster sells to Flamboro thunders for $3100. or $3200. and they would donate money back to the track in award money last year. Not sure about this year.

I thought Flammy was on the "602"  the "529" is the crate used at KD Sunset Mostport as far as I know the cam is what keeps it competitive and is allowed only in the "529" sealed crate!! but that's just what I hear, the "602" goes for around $3200 ans the "529" from $1800-$2400 the "Target Master" that barrie uses is in and around $2800 I think keeping the cost under $3500 is important here because I believe you can get a decent built for around $3200 if you know where to go!

Yup, totally agree with that statement Wade.

Even so 330hp or so from a 602 with a 4412 for $3200 is pretty enticing. Would be awesome to get that motor... and get 3 or 4 years with just freshening? Or an equivalent engine...

For about $4000 you can build a lot of engine if you go to the right place.

The 290 hp was seen at Barrie in the 09 of Dan Price, running a complete sealed unit, Mosport legal. Baker Jr of Mosport ran it 1st, and said it was "junk" replacing it with his old motor.

The cam has more lift, I beleive .430, but I think its low on duration. It is Mosport and Kawartha legal with that lift (athough builts have the stock lift rule). You are not going to outpower anything with it, hence there is no purpose to buy it. Its a replacement engine for your 81 Camero or Pickup truck, not a race unit to what we are seeing out there.

It can be had for a base price of $1,800. But then you have to add taxes to it, and it also dosn't come with a racing pan, any intake, or a balancer and pulleys. Using your own stuff on it, you are looking around $2,200 - $2,400 ish.

Homer, before you put a lot of time and efford into building motor, you'll want to get a track onboard with you. You are going to have a problem building for the price of the 290 hp, and even then you have the same issue, who wants an underpowered engine? Built an X-treme racing unit for that price range (good luck), and you'll have every guy at your door looking for one LOL

I'm all for crates, but its also only fair to keep builts in the game, thats where our sport came from. The problem being that so many guys are pushing the rules to the limit, and the rules have become very relaxed, that as it stands now, there will never be a crate that can keep up...
