I just wanted to say welcome to Canadian Racing Online.

If you hear a lot of bitching and moaning from people in this forum please understand it is because we care about our Saturday nights... this is what we do.. this is what we live for.. this is why we only have two seasons (racing and winter)... this is why we eat Kraft Dinner all week when daddy blows and engine..lol.

In the Barrie Speedway section they have a topic about a committee, which I noticed you replied to. That was their solution to what they felt was a problem. No good would come from having 80 drivers flood the owners where 4 representatives from each division could act as a go between.

As you may of already noticed there has been many conversations both good and bad in this forum regarding Sunset Speedway. A lot of this has come from a lack of communication and without that people are left to deal with stupid rumours. We all come to Sunset every week because we like it there and only want things to get better. I think you will find that people will be willing to help if they are let in on some of the things that are going on.

A case in point about how much the drivers care about the track. I had asked the drivers if the previous management had come up with some paint would drivers show up on a Sunday if we were fed some hot dogs and drinks and white wash the place. I had a 100% hit rate of drivers saying they would and would feel proud to do it. Just remember how passionate drivers are about their sport and if you have read any of the posts in here how much pride we take in our home track.

Once again welcome aboard and feel free to talk openly with us, we care. Sitting in the background and stalking will only feel creepy. All us drivers ever want is a open dialogue with the track.

that is so awesome to have a track owner on CRO...maybe more owners should get on here with a screen name of Ownerof----------. Maybe we could clarify things or they could for all racetracks and maybe things would get better or mis communications would be spotted.

I am not sure it is a good thing to be a track owner and to be hearing everything people think out loud.

Remember that movie with Mel Gibson where he wished he knew what women were thinking. Well he gets a bump on the head and low and behold he can hear their thoughts. Was fun for a while but after a while he wished he never knew. I also bought a scanner once upon a time and had so much fun listening to my neighbours talking on their phones.. who knew so many people had affairs..lol until I heard talk about me. I wished I never heard some of it.

I think if you really want to know what your drivers think you have a open door so they can talk or appoint a very personable representative for that purpose that reports to you. Have a suggestion box where people can give you comments without fear of being reprimanded or feeling stupid.

Having said that since Wes is here I hope it isn't as a hunting excursion to see what people are thinking but to work with us to make things great.

yes a suggestion box would be nice but when it's full and they empty it in to the trash bin unread it's no good at all. It would be nice to go to a track where the officials don't shrug you off. A track where answers are given and explanations are great because at least you get their side and why they make certain calls....shrugging drivers off only leads to angry drivers.....angry drivers lead to bigger problems.....

I guess your right though, i wouldn't want to know what people were saying about me....probably calling me a whiner anyways....so i will do what Barrie Speedway does and shrug it off.

Sunset might be a great place for dad to run if the rules were a little more similar to that of other tracks........Her Walters ran Barrie tonight....I think he ended up in the top 10 out of 24 starting cars.
