Late Models time trialed. Bentley was fast time. I think they inverted 6. Cannot remember who started pole.
Walters absolutely dominated. Lapped all but the top 7. He and Bentley restarted top 2 with 18 (?) to go, and after a lap or two, Bentley got into Walters in 1/2 and spun him. They restart 6th/7th with 15 to go. Walters wastes no time and gets up to second, behind Dwayne Baker. It boils down to a restart with 3 or 4 to go. On the restart, it looked like they made door to door contact on the front and backstretch with Walters on the outside. Going back down the front, Baker is at Walters door/rear tire, and they make contact. Walters hits the inside wall, collects Morrow. Baker spins in 1. Walters goes after Baker but is restrained.
Oh, and the entire time this is happening, there's a massive thunderstorm rolling towards turns 1/2, complete with a sweet lightning show. They decide enough is enough and throw the checkers while under the red with 3 to go.
You don't know why there are not very many thundercars?
Its easy, the cost of the this class has outpriced over 50 percent of the people who used to run it. It started as STREET STOCK, it went to THUNDERCAR, now its called SUPERSTOCK. Might as well just call them late models. Heck, at Barrie Speedway they are on full slick racing tires now, no groves.
Mini stock is the old thundercar now as well. Im running times almost good enough for top 5 in thunder at Barrie. If I chipped the computer to get around the rev limiter, it would not be behond the impossible to run under 16.00 in a Dodge Neon. My thundercar ran 16.8 on a good night when it was fast in 2007.
Stop changing rules, money wont be spent, and cars will slowly come back.
Oh and part of the reason there were not many thunders at Sunset is because Barrie went to a full slick, so Sunset decided ( and rightfully so ) not to allow the Barrie cars on the new tire.
Sunset has a very fast superstock... If you bring a car from another track and if you don't test..you will get lapped... You can spend mimium 300 bucks to make the trip..maybe this is the problem? ?
BINGO!
