a simple freedom of information act request I think would solve this...
are people still on this topic...??? there was a post at the start of the new "wes" era just like this one...and more endless banter of no intelligence shown here thayne even the freedom of information wont keep these people quiet its nice to see all these opinions but use common sense people i cant believe there is still pissing and moaning about this...im not a huge wes fan but i am a sunset fan and im just tired of people remaking threads...sorry this has no intelligent value and big bill you seem pretty tough over the internet...you know all these people from the track so well why are you on here making yourself look like a jack@$$ sorry my good sir but you are the one with nothing between your ears and if you could salvage something from that empty space maybe you could decipher how to spell things like your and damn before you start attacking people...yes...another one whom suffers from the lack of intelligence the figure of a hot air balloon and a neurological vasectomy...youre shooting blanks at nobody my good sir IMHO you fail....
Thanks For Coming Out
Mike
Never knew Alex and Ken were brothers?? Always thought it was Glenn and Ken, with Alex being their father?? I mean, thats what I grew up my whole life knowing anyways?
As far as a subdivision? cant really see that happening......but what I can see is that someone taking sunset to close it down to take it off the map so the realty market could blossum in Innisfil. Fact is, it would be way too much red tape to go through to get all the stuff to develope a subdivision. There would be huge $$$$ to clean up the contaminated soil from both the speedway and the old scrap yard on Shakell's land out back. If someone bought it for that sole purpose to take it off th map then that would allow agents to not have to state that there is a speedway within a certain area. Now, the speedway has been there for so long that it is grandfathered in to the township policies and layout so technically from what i understand, all Wes has to do is run one night a year and he would be able to keep the business going.....now that was 3rd party info so dont take it as the word please. Now, the land north and south of the speedway is for sale and would be worth a ton more if the track wasnt there, also the horse farm at the bottom of the hill on the west side has been sold to a developer and is slated for a subdivision by 2010.
Just thought I would thow my twist into the mix, but from what I have been told through different people, Wes has intentions of opening next year as well? guess we will have to wait and see what cards he has in his hand?
One thing I have learned from racing is that you can speculate all you want, but dont beleive it until you see it.....perfect example-how many times did Tom Walters say he was going to run peterborough before every season when we owned the place? too many to count but on opening night, he was there?
The ownership equation goes like this...Alex Shakell sold to Steve Slaughter who sold to Glenn Lioyd who sold to Wes Good (and financial backer).

I don't recall ever meeting Alex or Ken. And if I did, I was probably too young to remember it.
