Correction on a few things..
The new rule weight is 2700lbs
The SOHC version makes 140hp
The DOHC version makes 155hp
* Plus the motor is impossible to make more than stock power with unless you want to spend your life savings. It came from the line of hardbody trucks, with a long stroke that isnt't rev happy at all.
It's actually pretty hard to set up, because there is no info on the internet on how to properly set up and independent suspension car for oval racing, and they change dramatically between practice, heats and feature time.
Yes the division has gotten out of control, but no one moves up because the jump to super stock is huge financially. Why run super stock and finish near the back when you can run minis for the same amount of money and run at the front? That's the mind set of the majority of drivers.
Okay. I was wrong on the hp. All I am getting at, is why are guys willing to put upwards to 5 grand into a motor, when you can run a thunder for just over 5 grand? Sure, you need to buy tires every third or fourth week, but it beats putting 5 grand into a motor and another 5 into the car itself. And, when you are running thunder, you get paid more for placing near the back then finishing at the front in mini stock. And the thunder division really tests your talent. If you dominate the mini stock division, move up and try your luck there.
so all this talk about Horse Power and chassis and the new generation(2000 year and up) lap top programable ecu's so how cme we haven't heard from Mr super Tech aka Ted..I mean who has more no how then a guy that has spent most of his time workin at a scrap yard.
5000g into a mini stock motor lol??? i ran up front all season with a stock motor no where near 5 grand mark and was fast and am friends with alot of racer there and they have no where near 5 grand into there motor lol
that's cool robk66, I'm certainly not gonna argue with what you say as i know very little of this class. What I will ask is this, why is the dude that won at flammy asking $15000 for his mini? What do ya think is going on there? I coulda bought Dan Mchatties ACT late model off the track for $12000........:P
