We were not refering to where the 17 started, but where he crossed the line. I don't know what spot for sure he was in, but he was not in the top 5 for scoring on the board. After you remove the 51 and 11 (regardless if whether the 51 should have been moved) then I don't know where the 17 crossed the line. What I'm saying is that the 17 didn't WIN, beyond that, I have no idea yet. When I see the video, I'll know better.
After watching the video just now it is clear that the 17 crossed the line 6th, however, the 51 was moved to the back, which would make the 17 the 5th place car. Certainly not the winner of the race though!
I wouldn't necessarily call that a blown call the starters are still human beings and they had half a straightaway to make a decision I would have screwed that up too ..... The fact is they need to decide weather they go back a lap or not, and what the definition of an "involved car" is. I'm sure they will get it all sorted out properly! Hate seeing 2 good cars totaled in two weeks though i think that is the bigger issue. GIVE AND TAKE!
I wouldn't want their jobs, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a blown call, regardless of who made it. Again, I think Sunset usually does an amazing job, and I'm sure they'll continue to. I agree an "involved car" needs to be defined. I still admire them all for getting together and reviewing it. It takes a big man to admit he was wrong, and its great to see them all work as a team.
How was the 7 not the winner,he crossed the line ahead of the 17. The 51 and 11 we deemed involved cars, how was the 17 not deemed an involved car as its obvious with all the damage to his car that he was most certainly involved in the wreck before any caution flag was thrown. I sure hope they get this one figured out properly.
