When a car comes up on me (squeezing the lane) and has the lead and I'm not at least at his door panel, I look at my options, which in this scenario, I have two..

a) lift a little to give him the lane (which he has the right to do)

b) go right a little since there was room to go up to the wall a little bit more (at least half a car width).

To go straight and then left into the right rear corner of the leader is NOT one of the options I would have taken (and never have either...) - that would have just been plain stupid on my part. ...you know, cars have steering wheels and brakes to avoid trouble... I would bet that all the #29 had to do was lift a little and not even tap his brakes.

I've had the exact same scenario happen to me on more than one occasion and shoved into the wall and I've also been the guy on the outside and be squeezed and never turned someone ..not ONCE.

As for your suggestion that the #29 went left to avoid going into the wall - how could he do that when he's 1/4 of a car length up the side of the #03 is strange. Didn't know the #03 had a invisible rear fender to drive through. He's gotta brake first before he can go left and he didn't or the cars behind him would have tapped him while checking up....

A driver should always consider himself 'clear' if he's not up to the door panel, because that's always a blind spot in both quarter panels - that's always the way its been...

One other thing to consider - the #29 wasn't gaining on the #03, he was barely staying with him. Had the #29 been in gaining and getting to the door and in fact passing the #03 there's no way he would have done so unless he kept the car near the wall to get a decent angle to begin the turn into 1....

Wesley, not sure what or were you raced, but like the other poster said...if your not clear, your not clear...and wonder if the spotter said clear?  To let someone pass you by lifting is not racing!!

Say that again?

The #29 was passing the #03?

The 03 had the lead on the back straight, going into 3, coming out of 4 and down the front straightaway.

Not lifting is not racing... was the white flag waving? Was this going for the checkered?

I've raced my fair share over the years in a variety of divisions and series, but hey, doesn't mean I'm right...

First you say he shouldn't lift when passing - course he wasn't passing the #03

Then you say agree that the transponder shows him in the lead...

Sounds like you can't make up your mind - let alone watch the video and see what kind of lead the #03 had...

And it seems that all three of you (Hoser, GoFast69 and yourself Pastdriver) are suggesting that the #03 moved up the track. Now I haven't come out and said that. But I did say what I based my conclusions on compared to all three of you. All I said was that if I was squeezed, I wouldn't have kept on driving into the guys quarter panel !

But hey, like I said, just my opinion. Sounds like you guys are the experts on how to drive the track and don't mind that a guy can shove someone into the wall - after all, lifting isn't racing !! - just whack him ~ that's the way to win!!!!!
