just noticed on the sunset web site that they're doing a vote by e-mail to run roller rockers and rev limiter on the late model cars . i thought the rules were locked in for 3 yrs ?
The rules are locked in this is why it is up to regestered drivers if there will be any changes most of the other tracks have gone to these items and I have had a lot of call so I think that it is only fair to let our drivers decide if this is something they want by vote the rev limiters are only if you run rollers if you do not them it is business as usual.

Mark,
I would suggest that there's some confusion on the 'rev' limiter issue. The first of which is; Sunset does not allow MSD Ignition Boxes so the rev-limiter is a non-issue unless it opens up the rules to allow MSD in the first place.
The roller rocker rule has been allowed at several tracks already - including this year.
For non-GM Crate motors, MSD is an important component since factory ignitions systems are weak in Fords and Mopars. The Module issue in GM HEI's system is a hot button question that everyone has an opinion on.
I ran a GM HEI distributor design in my Ford and hated it. The MSD system is the way to go for many. If you want to add a rev-limiter, it's simply more money on top of the MSD box itself (ie. 6AN compared to other 6 series units).
As a car owner, one piece of feedback I would suggest to you, I didn't register for 2011 for Sunset because I knew you did NOT allow MSD and nor was there going to be a change. If I thought there was a potential way to influence the option of allowing MSD, I might have registered... good ol catch 22.....
Running MSD and Roller Rocker arms is valuable from two perspectives. Allows improved ignition / fuel burn (yes more HP) and durability along with the Roller Rocker arms (and yes more HP) and easier on the valvetrain.
I would not allow Roller Rocker arms on GM crate motors or MSD. If they are allowed on GM crate motors, then I would eliminate the weight break given to 602's. If MSD modules are allowed in the HEI ignition systems, I would also eliminate the weight break.
he is not allowing msd boxes from what i understand, just a soft touch rev limiter which is $135 part and it will be for builts only.
both crate and built will be allowed roller rockers.
if these rules are being looked at for the purpose of a advantage for invitational races then put weight penalties on the cars that have the roller rockers , when you say your locking in the rules for 3 yrs then stick with it .
