Exactly bfe I'm not saying it couldn't work down the road but how many years has peterborough been doing this, it's a well known respected event.
It takes years to get there. My point was I think the money needs to go into the speedway. Not out the window, last year recorded by Glenn 25 people paid to go thru the main grandstands. This hardly pays for the toilet paper in the bathrooms.
Deb I am sorry but I have to disagree on the numbers that you say were through the main grandstands...I was there and the stands were almost full I have seen pictures to prove this.
Daisygirl is right on this one as i remember the stands being quite full , i think you got the thurs. night specials mixed up where they only had a limited number of people show up.
You may be able to bring more fans/competitors out if the track found someone to sponsor one more Spectators race. How many cars were there there last time for the $1000.00 race, around 20 or so?? If they all came back I could maby get another 10 or so realy fast cars to come and play from Barrie Speedway.I could round up some people to come out and watch and then run in the spectator race while their family's look on from the stands. What do you think??
Why don't we invite Ben Johnson and have a Ben Johnson/Beau Burrows Dash for Cash down the back stretch. I am sure a people would show up to see that. ;D
As far as you stating the rules have changed well in the rules I have they read: "One night in June, July or August you may replace your points with a points total of 84 points.
I guess being September this rule no longer applies??
I was aware that no longer applies but if you are unable to race due to mechanical failure you sign a form and have it signed at tech and you receive last place points for the night. I haven't used that this year yet but I do know others who have. It was talked about in a drivers meeting that it was something that they wanted to get rid of but since it is already in existence they will leave it for the remainder of the year but somehow it has been removed. After talking to many track employees, trying to get an answer, all I could get was lots of shrugged shoulders and how lots of things just get changed without noticed like that. It is hard to get a straight answer when all I heard from anybody was... "He owns the track he can do whatever he wants".
This weekend after busting my butt to get my car to the races and showing up in the rain and not being able to make it on the track I went to fill out my form for not being able to participate due to mechanical failure. It seems that rule (which is in MY rules that I signed up for for this season) has been removed just like the Frosty Special was.
That's unfair! If it's a rule, they should keep it.
