I have to say I could feel the change the moment I drove in the parking lot. When I went to the back gate ticket booth I could feel it. When I drove in the pits and looked around and seen some of the people there (Tom Walters, Vic Parson, Steve Slaughter Sr., Glenn, Fred and on and on) it just felt like a weight had been lifted. The drivers seemed happy, everybody working there seemed happy. It just feels like family again and you belong.
I am very happy to be a part of Sunset and it's future... oh it is was nice to see the fries and gravy havent changed.. been waiting for months for a fix of them!!!
You got the wrong Track their southernsponsor, the one we are all raving about is 20 minutes south of BS. It's Sunset Speedway, you raced at Barrie Speedway last year.
To Mark Dilley, Steve Slaughter and the rest of the people backing Mark. I want to first say "THANK-YOU" for taking the track over and I know from working there for 30 years, the track has been run down over the last two years, due to the lack of money. I know that the new owners and promoters will being it back to the professional way it use to be with the Slaughters owning it. My wife and I would be only too happy to go back and help in what ever we can to see the track go ahead and see the stands full as well as the pits. All Mark or Steve has to do is only a "Phone Call Away" and we would be there with bells on. Once again Congratulations to the NEW OWNERS....
Its funny that a thing like a change of ownership can make people feel a sense of anticipation. I too was drawn into that goose bump feeling when i walked into sunset sat. night,the first under new ownership.Was amazed at the number of sunset drivers out for the opening night as it looked so bleak earlier in the afternoon.Cant wait for next sat. night as i'm sure it'll be just as exciting.Good to see Tony Tieresma,Daren Macolm,Vic Parsons and especially fan favorite Stompin Tom Walters back at sunset this year as this it will make for some real good racing with the already stacked lineup of sunset regulars like poole,witty,rankin and mr excitement chris morrow.Should be one of the best race seasons in years and years.
