There has definitely been some great racing at Sunset over the years! I am saddened to see the attendance, IMO, taking a serious, and steady decline over past years. I have no hard facts to base this on (haven't taken the time to count or anything), just my observations. I, for one, would be very excited, and appreciative to the owners, and management of Sunset, if they would take the time and initiative to step up the maintenance at the track. It is great that people living in the "Barrie Area" have 2 tracks to choose from, and competition between the two is healthy, and expected. The downside to this competition is that right now, Sunset has fallen terribly behind Barrie from a 'venue' point of view. I'm not saying anything about any of the drivers, there are skilled, and unskilled at every track. It would be a sad, sad day to see one of our tracks fold. It's a wonderful thing to have a choice. It's a fact, you have to spend money, to make money. If it's important to 'the powers that be' at Sunset, they will make improvements to their facility so that the spectating experience will be more comfortable. Here's hoping....... 🙂
The name speaks for the self Sunset The DUMP speedway.
I have no problems with Sunset...i think the racing is okay...the track is faster than Barrie (i truned more RPM) so I did enjoy the racing there....but to be honest...two years ago when i was picking one of the two tracks....i didnt know about car quality, etc. i just picked Barrie because it was the nicer of the two facilities.

So you agree ??? It's great to have a choice.
What I would love to see is 1. Sunset management realize what they have and put some cash in the right places. 2. Sunset (or Barrie doesn't really matter which one) one of them switch their night then put their heads together and stop competing against each other and have one running Friday night and the other Saturday. Then there would be drivers going to both tracks and it would be like some kind of mini series every weekend. That would rock...
I know this would never happen even if God intervened but it is a nice theory. They have common rules for Sunset, Mosport, Kawartha and some other tracks so there has been collabaration between promoters for some things. The market is big enough in this area, it can support two tracks why not sort it out and get it done.
I liked the racing at Sunset, I've said it before. It may not be as fast but it is good tight racing nonetheless.
