Thunder...guys like Jim, who put "home track" bull!@#$ aside and just race are the reasons fans like me make a couple trips north every year, even though right now the south track is a better value. (in terms of car counts which matters to me and food. Infact, last time I wanted a burger I couldn't decide what was burned more, the meat or my a@#hole after paying for it)
Because my uncle races there I like to come out and cheer him on a few times a year even though i don't have as much fun at "your" track.
This pissing and moaning between fans from either track is a waste of time and does nothing to benefit either track. As much as you want to boycott Sunset for a few people starting crap with your track, you should spend some time teaching some of your own about throwing stones at glasses houses.
Come on people, with the exception of 3 people I've seen write on here, which all represent Sunset and have never said anything bad about Barrie (I will admit I don't know about Barrie's bosses though), no one has any vested interest in the success of either track. Do you see this crap going on over at the Kawartha and Peterborough boards? How about Flammy and Delaware? Varney and Sauble? Clearly we're making the Barrie area look like we're all a bunch of inbreed retards and this goes for both tracks fans!
Biggest mistake I ever made was listening to my cousin and joining this site after I saw her at Sunset, watching racing when Barrie was shut down! Its takening all the fun out of my Saturday nights!
To the mods...just stop all this bull! IT has no relevenace what so ever and it makes your site look like its users are monkeys!
Wow Thunder 6, a little harsh don't ya think.
Last time i check there was such a thing as freedom of speech and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Why does Jim support Sunset? I will take a stab at the answer and Jim can tell me if i am wrong. HE LOVES TO RACE, be it Barrie, Sunset or wherever. A day racing is better then a night spent in the garage looking at it. Beside why do racers have race cars....to race. Also Jim does not support Sunset more then he does Barrie, he is just trying to have some fun and get everyone involved.
Remember the night 2 years ago, with the jokers hat and the crown. That was such a fun night, everyone enjoyed themselves. People laughing, talking etc. Isn't that the way it should be? Yes we both race at different tracks, but we are all still racers and fans. Remember all the fun leading up to it on here, the rhymes and innocent stabs that we all laughed at .... and nobody feelings got hurt, cause it was all in fun.
You say that everyone is "holding their breathes for Barrie to lock their gates"? I have not seen anyone on here say that with joy. There was bound to be issues with the track this year, last year was a year of problems for Barrie and it seemed to be getting worse this year, not better and people were just voicing that. But i am not going to discuss the issues here, there is no use, it doesn't help anything or anybody. You on the other hand always seem to be calling people negative and that is far worse then negativity to the track. The gates, stands, asphalt do not have feelings, it does not hurt them. Why is it that your opinion is more important? Is that helping anything?
You are talking about boycotting for the season over things that people have said about Barrie? Why? What is that going to help? If you support Barrie, shouldn't you be going to Sunset, and showing them what Barrie car can do? Isn't that better? I hope that you guys do not boycott Sunset, as i think Ken is a great person, and if he chooses to race Sunset then he should have the support of his entire team. Every hand helps.
Please remember that this is just my opinion, and everyone and maybe no one will agree with me. But....that's ok.
PS. Thunder 6, please feel free to inform me of the bad things that our team has wrote on here about Barrie. Go ahead...you can't right? That's right we didn't post any of it. And how dare you call Sunset people ignorant, who do you think you are. Everyone there gets dressed the same way you do, they work, they have family and kids, and they race. They take pride in their track, the same way you do. I think that you are the ignorant person here...again just my opinion!
You know, this was a perfectly good thread. A great example of the kind of intertrack rivalry that's fun and good for racing. But its gotten off topic again.
I don't want to lock it. His Majesty has issued his challenge and it should run its course.
Any more threadcrapping will result in moderation of the offending parties. Let's turn this around folks.
+1000 extremewife and a million to shadowracer 🙂
Well I'm going to respond to Earnhardtfromthegrave and Rhonda and then I'm done.
None of this was actually intended for either of you, it's actually intended for people who say things to stab at Barrie and try and "get back" at Barrie for their own petty reasons or agenda, and the efforts of those of us who choose to race at Barrie. Most of what has been said is not even here, it's on another site or social networking. Actually a lot of it comes from people who have been kicked off this site in years past.
I know Earnhardt is a sincere fan who has appreciation for Barrie. I always tried to generate co-operation between these two tracks and yes, I was very supportive of Barrie cars travelling to Sunset to support their shows in years past, even brought my junk down there a time or two.
Rhonda I have no issues whatsoever with you, we always liked racing Dave and we were sad we weren't going to be racing him as much this year. I know you guys don't say bad things about Barrie, and you got to do what you got to do, I totally get that. You have to admit there is a core group of people who are involved with Sunset who never listen about anything and only talk about Sunset, those people who genuinely want to see Barrie closed. I always went out of my way to encourage people to go down to Sunset and I think you know that. If find it very disgusting that they talk about Barrie the way they do when we supported them in the bad times.
As for Ken, I cannot speak for him, but I seriously doubt he will go there again and it has nothing to do with me. If he did decide to go I might go, but I'd have to think about it a lot. I'm building a twin cam Neon for Jen and part of the reason why is Sunset doesn't allow them.
Hey this is all completely my opinion and eveybody's going to do whatever they are going to do, I'm going to miss some friends, but I don't like the political atmospere, so I'm done with it.
Go ahead and boot me for responding Trevor I need a holiday anyhow.
OK then.
