After the happenings of this past few days, the unfortunate situation with the tires, and the postings of "Mickey" things are spinning out of control. I attended Sunset every week for years and then started to attend Barrie during the "Lloyd years", not because I have anything against the Lloyd's, But Sunset just wasn't the track that it had been in the past. I started attending Sunset again mid season last year. I was happy to be back, but I was shocked at how far the track had slipped into disrepair. It truly looked like nobody cared. When I heard at the beginning of the season that Wes had taken it over again, I was so excited, "finally" I thought, "here is someone that loves Sunset, and will return it to it's former glory". But somehow things have turned sour. I truly believe that Wes wants things to work out, with the ultimate goal of turning Sunset back around to the being the best track in the area. All I can do is ask everyone that truly loves Sunset as much as I do, not to get sucked in to all of this negativity. If half of the drivers leave, and the current management are forced to close the doors, how is that going to benefit racing in the area? Over the last few decades, we have lost so many racetracks in the area, and all that remains of them is the memories of the way things used to be. After seeing Sunset again mid season last year, and the condition that it was in, one has to wonder how close we have come to Sunset, meeting the same fate as many of the areas other "Ghost Tracks" I think that Wes would be one of the first to say that he would do things a little differently if he could start the '08 season all over again, and all I can do is ask Steve and Wes to please, please, resolve this nasty situation, for the sake of the track that you both love so much, and for the sake of racing in Simcoe County. As for everyone else, Please, let's give all of this public negativity a rest, let's give Wes a year, and see where the track is then. I really don't want to see Sunset close it's doors, and don't try to tell me that it couldn't happen.

It won't help racing in the area but as a race fan or competitor we will not and cannot be pushed around and be made to believe falsified information, I agree I would love to see a huge track battle between sunset and barrie about who's best. In order to do such both tracks needs the support and respect of all competitors young and old alike and therin lay the problem!!! personally I believe this should be water under the bridge but it's just not going to be that way, see the track probably wants an appology but are they willing to give one themselves?? and trust me I'm not being negative here you can ask anybody who knows me I've pumped the hell out of the track this season trying to get the best show going!! but it's a give and take situation not one or the other and the issue needs nipped in the butt immediatly!! we've got something going here that hasn't been for along long time and that's mutal respect between track drivers and it's rare so lets get everything sorted and put together a great show!!
Well said Don.
Yes there is a ton of ghost tracks and it is getting harder and harder to see racing close to home so if we don't try and be a part of the solution we will have no places to go see racing.
Yes there is going to be a lot of people upset with tracks and racers but we need to start communicating better and this bickering back and forth about how bad things are we need to shoot some comments like I know things are bad but what can I suggest or do to make it better.
I went to Sunset many years ago and saw a great show not sure who was the owner then but it was great to see some side by side racing. I was amazed how these guys were giving and not bashing each other to get passed each other like you see in the more sponsored levels of racing in Canada.
It was true grass roots racing if you want to pass the guy you did it cleanly. To be honest I would watch this racing over NASCAR as it is great to see driver taking care of their cars and doing clean racing as they know they wreck it they have to pay to fix it for the next race and they also have to fix it as they don't have a team to do this for them.

Truth is my dad told me,years ago some drivers decided to make a stand at Sunset the promoter at the time Gord Coates chewed them up and spat them out right on the track in front of the crowd, the ring leaders never raced much again.Sit back and watch people head for the high ground even people close to you. Jnr is a great guy but he is also a big boy and now he knows if you want to keep poking a pit bull with a stick its only gonna take it for so long, nobody is laughing any more imo his father was the best owner the track ever had he must be very embarrassed by the whole thing. Many tell me Sunset has had awesome racing this year and thats what its all about, but a handful of drivers are bent out of shape over a very poor web site and no tires. l agree with Don Ington Move on before its too late, Wade you and I do not race so what do we have too lose? the drivers have to make that decision. So lets race.

hmm....poking at a pit bull?...last i checked drivers wanted honesty and things would not have escalated had the tire issue not been dealt with honesty....how can you race at a track where you are deceived by the owner....i dont see a short track in the province deceiving people of information they should really know so Junior has done a great thing and its just too bad that some people are blind to see this...you praise his father yet you cut him up about proving a point?...im sorry but your truth is far fetched on this one...JMO
Cheers
Mike ;D
