What Ashley isn't noticing due to her lack of knowledge behind the wheel of a race car is that whole lane is moving faster for a couple reasons that have nothing to do with the 47 car
1) the 11 had a flat which forced him to lift so that outside lane always moves a bit faster due to the fact its further around the track so when the green is thrown that lane is naturally going a bit faster to keep the pace.
2)11 had to lift to avoid taking out alot of cars with his flat, and did and excellent job saving it.
The starter had the discretion not to throw the green he choose to and the penalize only one car in that outside lane for moving when clearly the problem started in the lower lane. Once he committed to the green the starter cant penalize the 47 for his lane moving
The proper thing that should have been done, was to throw the green followed by the yellow to a complete restart. I can see why the #11 car slowed down and the #47 ewas moving ahead. Common sense would have seen that. I feel that for 2012 a rule should be put in,"THAT IF YOU JUMP THE RESTART, THAT THE CAR JUMPING THE RESTART MOVE BACK TO THE SECOND ROW AND ON THE INSIDE.".. "That if the same cars dose it a second time they move back to 5th place for the restart. I saw that happen at a coup[le of tracks and they soo learned not to be so jumpy. I was not there to see it live, but from what I did see from the videos, that was (NOT" the case in this ..
How come the 48 was not sent to the back too? Based on this picture, if the 47 jumped, then so did the 48!
Question for Mark Dilley or Steve Slaughter judging by the picture posted by Ashley the white start line is back quite a ways so i take it Walters must have been a good 6 inches to a foot ahead on the restart to get black flagged so will that now be the norm for any cars committing this same infraction in the future.Just curious as to what you are considering jumping for the drivers to be sent to the rear. Will it be any less than the 6-12 inches.

My assumption in looking at this and the video was that Morrow had the flat tire after the contact that he caused with Walters in turn four as I haven't seen anything else that would say otherwise. That's why in debating how the restart went down, I have said what I have said.
Now if it is true that the 11 had a flat tire, then yes it's a wrong call on the track because of what you have said. Though let's face it - nobody is perfect. Mistakes will be made and sometimes they'll hurt a lot (like this one) to those involved.
It is the wrong call period. If cars are under that kind of ridiculous scrutiny at the restart line, then what about the 48 car on the final restart the week before? he was very slightly ahead of the 17 car on the restart. The only reason it didn't stick further in to the corner is cause his car wasn't good on the outside. It was the same thing though at the restart line.
The fact is that it was a ridiculous call plain and simple.
