I don't know that the sunset starter has a hard on against any one racer....What should have went down....the start should have been waved off, No black flag! Maybe 3 strikes and your out!.....But really to come on here a bitch about how your driver is getting screwed!!! really? This whole internet has thrown a real Fu@*!n into the way Business needs to be run. The simple fact the Joe Blow Fan can fire off an email about how his driver getting F'ed over is truly Sad! Did Tom need to go to the back, Nope. But i sure as hell would not be sending an email about how my kids were cryin over it.....Do we need fans in the stands...yup we do, i spend good money to put on a show, same as all SS guys, LLM, and MS drivers do, and you the fans spend your $$ to come and support the track and drivers....That's what makes racing happen...But to come on here and say shit about the track and it owners because your guy that you root for got screwed....Really? your life is that sad you need to "stand firm" and not support the great racing that Sunset has to offfer? Back when i was a kid, Hanley got wrecked at Cayuga, I was one pissed off 6 yr old....but thankfully my old man didn't run up one side of Bob Slack, we went back the next week and watched Hanley whoop them....Its a luxury to race, Drivers and fans spend good money at it....and if it weren't for People like Mark and his crew at Sunset we would All be saying remember when????
Bob Slack was one of the great Stock Car dudes... in my books he's still one of the KING's of Canadian Motorsports and I will blame him forever 😀 - for getting me into stock cars back in the early 1980's.
It is amazing to me also how one incident can develop into such a brewhaha on a forum like this one. Every track, every week of the season has a miscall that effects the outcome of a race. The competitors all know it.The 47 has been at this game for decades. He has lived and died by the flagmen more times than he or any of us could even remember. The same goes for everyone he competes with. The flaggers are human, this is local short track racing. Mistakes are going to happen. I have been attending local racing since the 60's. At the end of the day , it doesn't mean anything. It's just entertainment folks. Relax ! ;D
Unfortunately this entertainment (as you call it) awards purse money for your efforts and integrety of your personal performance. There is no such a thing as a bad call fund to pay the bills. Officials should be operating with the same integrety they expect of the participants they officiate. Conflict of interest has no integrety.
Indeed most participants realise all is not perfect, but also realise situations that get out of hand and the inability to correct it.
Your claim of conflict of interest has no merit. It has to be admitted by the accused , or proven by a governing body, and it has not. Thus, it is just opinion. None of the people racing at Sunset are doing it for the purse money. It is for the chance of being a class Champion or in most cases ,for fun or to satisfy an addiction such as it was for me. ;D,
So duken ur telling me these racers arent trying to win the 18,000 purse money if ur r the lm champ and the camp of the shootout series. What people r trying to debate here is the flagmen works for Coates, he is a coates, coates sponsors a car at the speedway. This said driver has beaten coates driver in the past for championships. Now this all being said could all be just be a coincidence. But it just doenst look good.
