For the most part, I think the people who say that Bristol was a snoozer just expect to see wrecks. The new Bristol promotes side by side racing and passing high AND low. This didn't happen at the old Bristol. I don't know what TV showed, but from the grandstands I saw plenty of two and three wide racing. How many laps did Kvapil hold Busch at bay on the inside trying to stay on the lead lap? A couple of years ago Kyle would have passed (bumped) by Travis in one turn. I've experienced both Bristols and the new version is by far superior in terms of racing action (but not wrecking). I stuck around after the Nationwide race Saturday night and watched the UARA 100 lap wreckfest to quench my thirst for stock car carnage. And there's always ARCA.
racenut, did you watch the legends race? Was it any good?
Maybe they should just disband Nascar. These boring a$$ races are all too predictable.
it is called racin not wreckin
Hey Ernie
Yes we did watch the Legends race. It had its moments. Like Rusty charging to the front or L.D. Ottinger hanging it out dirt track style trying to catch Rusty and Sterling towards the end. The old man can still drive (he apparently hadn't even been in a race car in ten years). Otherwise it was just OK racing. It was cool to see some of the Legends of Nascar on the track. Junior Johnson wrecked his car in practice but it was repaired on time for the race. DW and David Pearson didn't race as advertised. The cars that Spencer and Yarborough raced were in the UARA feature right after the Legends race.
I personally didn't mind the britsol sprint cup race. I thought it was a good race, well the race behind the leaders that is. Now, busch on the other hand was a bit of a bore, typical busch race. The sprint cup guys lead the race and put on the show and the busch guys fell to the side lines, ONCE again. To me - busch is getting very boring, no matter what track. It's kind of like hockey - I mean you don't see the NHL stars get to play with the OHL teams.... This sport is always looking for young talent (like joey lagano) but really, how much talent can be noticed when the top guys are running up top in both series... thats just my opinion. I do prefer to watch a bristol race over a 2 mile track though. More goes on and it shows the driving skills of these guys more so than other tracks. It truly can't be easyto continuely dodge in and out of lap cars all day long.
