Well I'm kind of getting tired of these fuel races... It was almost boring to watch Edwards driving around at half throttle when he had 15 seconds on everyone.

But congrats to Jimmy Johnson... while I wouldn't put him in the same category as Cale Yarborough (one of the all time greats, and not just because he threw a live non-venomous rattlesnake in Tiny Lund's car one time  ;D ;D ;D), he did accomplish something that is pretty spectacular.

Well I'm kind of getting tired of these fuel races... It was almost boring to watch Edwards driving around at half throttle when he had 15 seconds on everyone.

And I feel the opposite, Thunder6. I think  it adds an extra dimension to the sport. Just like pitting for 2 tires, no tires, 4 tires. Or like the guy that hangs back, saves his tires and brakes all day, and comes on like gangbusters at the end of the race.

I was on the edge of my seat, when I seen Earnhardt run out of fuel a few weeks ago, then Kennseth yesterday, I'm thinking can Edwards & Osborne pull this off a second time, to be quite honest, I didn't think they could??? It was all or nothing for them.

It says something for the driver as well as the crewchief. Osborne stated after the race "Edwards is the best driver at Roush that can save fuel", or something like that. There, again, I wouldn't have thought so, the way Carl's up on that wheel all the time???

Anyway, I guess that's why I like the sport so much, it's like a chess match, not only do you need a good driver, but a good chassis, engine, crew chief, team and luck.

Personally I think that's why Johnson won the championship again, not that he's not a good driver, he is, but I think his crewchief/team are the best in the business right now.

At any rate, not to take anything away from your point of view T6, I enjoy for example, watching the SLM's go all out for 50 or 100 laps, but I also enjoy watching different pit strategies and how they play out too.

Jimmy is good without a doubt, by IMO Knaus is the champion. Everything that he touches turns to gold! The call that he made with the pit stop 3/4 through the race was shear genius! I think that he could make anyone that drives his car a champion.

I think the Case needs some tweeking. I didn't find it that good this year.

We will have to wait and see.

Maybe break it up into quarters? 8 Race quarters? and then take the top 3 from from each quarter and have a 4 race shootout. they all start them with the same amounts of points but give bonus points for people who won.

If they are the same people in the quarters each time take the next person down like the 4th place for that quarter and throw them into the chase.

So if someone makes the chase and dominates it you change the format? Listen, no matter what format he's going to do well. This will happen from time-to-time where someone will dominate it by this much and there's nothing you can do. You just should go through it each year, hoping it does. If it doesn't, well then instead of complaining about the format you should sit there and applaud the team that won on a job well done. And for those teams that wanna complain about the format (such as Jack Rouch), well I've got a couple words for you - shut up and drive & get your ass to work on catching them. If you work hard enough you could probably just be as good as them.
