Jason White was excited to hit the track in his #28 Powder Ventures Excavating Dodge for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series final race of the season this past Saturday night at Jukasa Motor Speedway. DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team have knocked on the door several times and come close to scoring a victory in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. Finally the drought is over as Kennington scored a dominating win to close out the 2018 at Jukasa Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Right from the start of practice the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge was quick and Kennington posted the second fastest practice lap time. During the afternoon qualifying session he chose to wait until the last moments and then laid down the fastest lap of the day to earn the number one starting spot for the 200-lap race.

“This car felt great and all we did during the afternoon was make some minor adjustments to prepare for the cooler temperatures we expected during the race. Great job by the team” said Kennington.

When the action began Kennington kept the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge out front for the race for the first 40 laps of the race and only surrendered the lead when he got boxed in by a lapped car. “I was trying to work through the traffic but we had a little mix up. I knew we had a car that could get back to the front,” explained the driver.

Following planned stops for fuel and later for fresh tires Kennington had the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge on the move once again. “We waited to take tires until after some of the others knowing it would give us an advantage later in the race” stated Kennington.

Kennington would push the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge back into top spot on lap 173 and despite a couple of late cautions that bunched up the field he held off all challengers to claim his first victory since 2013. It was an emotional Kennington in victory lane after the race wanting to thank everyone that contributed to help deliver the win. “I kept telling these guys on this team, I’m going to get you back to victory lane. There’s been a few times I wondered when it would happen again but we did it. I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work every weekend”.

“This win has been a long time coming. I can’t thank Castrol and everyone that’s been with us and given us so much support, this is for you too. It’s so nice to have my family and my kids here, what a way to wrap up our season”.

Kennington completed the season finishing each of the 13 races inside the top ten, the only driver to do so. His victory in the final race also boosted him up to a third place finish in the overall point standings.

DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team want to thank their fans for their support and encouragement during the 2018 season. They can’t wait to be back in action next season.

Race fans are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest team news during the off-season in several ways. Race fans should bookmark the team website www.djkracing.caand follow them on twitter, @djkracing and Instagram. Fans should also “like” the DJK Racing Fan Page on Facebook.
Camirand Runs Out of Fuel and Misses the Podium

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate distribution

New Hampshire Motor Speedway – Visit New Hampshire 100

Loudon, NH, September 23, 2018 - Marc-Antoine Camirand came very close to another podium-finish, on Saturday at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but he ran out of fuel with half a lap remaining in the race. The GM Paillé N°22 Chevrolet Camaro was fast all weekend, for the first NASCAR Pinty’s race in the US.

The New Hampshire Motor Speedway mile was a completely new track for Marc-Antoine Camirand, but he showed that he could be quick right at the beginning. He posted the fastest time in the final practice, with a blistering lap of 31,936 sec. He qualified the GM Paillé N°22 Chevrolet Camaro in 6th place and he knew he could climb back positions quickly in the 100-lap race.

“Qualifying is all about pure speed, but we chose to sacrifice a few positions on the grid to have a better car on the long run. It paid off. My GM Paillé N°22 Chevrolet Camaro was so fast in the race, I knew I could achieve another great result,” said Camirand after the Visit New Hampshire 100.

The driver from St-Léonard-d’Aston, QC, was patient at the beginning of the race, trying to preserve his tires. “We were running the entire race on the same tires, and I knew I would have to finish strong. I climbed up to the second spot, and at the end of the race, I was catching up on the leader”, he explained.

At the very last lap, the GM Paillé N°22 Chevrolet Camaro ran out of fuel. “The leader was trying to save gas, and I could have done the same. I wasn’t expecting to be short on fuel. Some of the other drivers went to pit on a yellow for adjustments on their cars and took gas at the same time. I didn’t pit because my car was driving very well, and I thought I could run the 100 laps without any problem”, commented Camirand.

The driver was disappointed to miss a podium-finish by half a lap, especially when the field ran a few laps on yellow that didn’t count. “There was a caution flag before the first lap had been completed, and the laps on yellow didn’t count. If it weren’t for that, I would have finished the race and kept my second place”, he explained.

The Visit New Hampshire 100 will air on TSN on Saturday Sept. 29th at 1:30 p.m. and on RDS 2 on Tuesday September 16th at 10:30 p.m.

Marc-Antoine Camirand hope to have a strong season finale at the wheel of the GM Paillé N°22 Chevrolet Camaro, next week, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series will be on track at the Jukasa Motor Speedway, in Hamilton, ON, for the Pinty’s Fall Brawl.

Informations:
Fannie Brouillette Linda Jones
Cell.: 819-698-8785 Cell : 705-730-4044
brouillette.fannie@gmail.com ljones@drivenmi.ca

Alex Tagliani Surpasses LP Dumoulin in New Hampshire to Close Gap to Four Points in the NASCAR Pinty’s Championship

For Immediate Release

Montreal, September 22, 2018 – Racecar driver Alex Tagliani finished ahead of points leader LP Dumoulin at the conclusion of the 100 lap (170.27-km) inaugural Visit New Hampshire 100 held Saturday afternoon at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway 1.703 km paved asphalt oval in New England. Kevin Lacroix dominated the 12th and penultimate round of the 2018 NASCAR Pinty’s schedule to score his first win since June.

With his seventh-place finish, Tagliani shaved one point off the gap and is now a scant four points behind championship leader LP Dumoulin. Next weekend’s championship showdown in the season finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway located near Hamilton, Ontario promises to be a hot one. Starting fourth today, Tagliani stayed in the top five during the first third of the race. Following a pit stop in the race’s only full course caution on lap 45, the Canadian driver stopped to fix a technical problem on his Chevrolet Camaro EpiPen/RONA/St Hubert/ Spectra Premium and lost several positions. When he returned to the track, Tag was listed in 13th place while his main opponent in the championship race was fifth.

Back in form, Tagliani moved up the field and finally overtook Dumoulin on lap 60. But the fight was not over as Dumoulin tried several times to move past Tag during the next forty laps, but to no avail. He finished right behind Tag.

“Obviously, this seventh-place finish is not what we expected with the car we had in practice and qualifying,” said Alex Tagliani. “I am quite disappointed with the results, but we did shave one point off the gap to the championship leader, which makes it up a bit. A technical glitch changed the outcome of our race as the car started to oversteer in the worse way, making it hard for me to drive it. After pitting to repair, we lost ground on the leaders when we returned to the track and could not make our way back to the front. Still, we are not giving up. We are highly motivated to end the season on a high note. We are heading to a track that I like for a championship showdown. I feel quite confident for the season finale. Maybe this is our time to finally finish on top.”

Race winner Lacroix crossed the finish line more than five seconds ahead of Peter Shepherd, and eight ahead of Donald Theetge. Cole Powell and D J Kennington round up the to five.

Seventeen drivers started the race with 15 crossing the finish line. Nine cars finished on the lead lap. The race was under full course caution once for a total of three laps.

This was Tagliani’s tenth top-seven finish in 12 starts this year. Tag has a pair of wins and one pole position this year. In 70 NASCAR Pinty’s Series career starts, Tagliani has eight wins, 30 top-fives and 48 top-ten finishes.

The Visit New Hampshire 100, round 12 of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, will air on TSN on Sunday, September 30 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

In the driver’s championship, Tagliani remains in second place with 484 points, only four behind leader LP Dumoulin. Next week’s season finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway will crown this year’s NASCAR Pinty’s Series driver champion.

Up next in the NASCAR Pinty’s – The season finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway
The NASCAR Pinty’s Series returns to Ontario next week for the season finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway one kilometre oval track located near Hamilton.
