Congrats to Chance and Chris on their runs, and all the thunder guys for using their heads for a change!
I lost control plain and simple running in second, I have no excuse. But I made sure to swing it into the wall rather then come across the track and cause another 15 car pileup for everyone.
Well..........what a disappointment for the 47 of Walters.....he had past the finish line before the yellow was thrown....and therefore should be the rightfull winner of the LLM feature. However....truly bad officiating is to blame here....as some of these drivers should have been brought up short when they started racing prior to the pace car being off the track........I believe that it is the lead car that sets the pace!!!! That 22 LLM has a lot to learn...and I believe that he will in fact face his fate in the future. His arrogance in the pits after "words" with Walters goes to prove that his day will come. And just think....if they had of given the rightful win to Walters....the crash with the number 4 car would not have happened.......another result of bad officiating. And not to mention.....the PLM feature.....that was the most pathetic race of "pro's" that I have ever seen. The Oscaar race was great, even the fight with Hanley....true colors there!!
And for the 99 LLM.......must say you looked very good on the hook at the end of the race!!! And if you need to know what I'm talking about....ask your little GF!!! Things will always come back to bite you in the ass when you mess with the wrong ppl....next year...maybe she will keep her mouth shut!!!
I would have had no problem with them calling the LLM feature after the last lap incident (giving 3rd place the win)...but how you figure Walters should have won? ...... you spin somebody you go to the back.... same rules on the last lap as the first.
I think a lot of people would have done what Walters did......Mitchell pushed him out of the way in turn-1/2 although thats good hard racing on the last lap, he didn't dump him like Walters did to Mitchell, but I get it last lap at Autumn Colours and you just got moved out of the lead your gonna be mad. But I don't see how you can justify your point in saying Walters should have won that race, unless your argument is that there should be no penalty for spinning people out.
Anybody get video of the thunder B? Especialy footage of the lap when I drove from 9th to 2nd. I'm kinda bummed out that I didn't make the show when I thought I had a plenty fast enough car to make it, but got stuck in a very strong heat with a loose race car. I'm sure it was a pretty spectaclar looking lap and could use the smile, also any footage of my dukes of hazard launch off of turn 1 might be fun to watch.
Great show by the thunder guys! And what a great LLM race too. Nice to see jeff Hanley get his due and Brandon win.
I will not settle for watching the thundercar feature from the pits next year.
Polaris,
It's okay to be a #47 Fan ( I frequently talk to Walters), but # 22 of Chris Mitchell ran a solid race. Chris coming out of Turn 2 did a classic Tom Walter's bump and run. Walters then retaliated in turns 3 & 4 - from the outside lane. Chris "learned" how to race Tom Walters - in Walter's fashion. In the end, they both went to the back.
Walters was running out of tires... he drove an amazing race 72 of the 75 laps he dominated. He had a fantastic restart strategy, damned near running over the pace car every time before it could exit into the infield !!
It was enough to constantly get a solid jump on Kamrath and keep Tony (#7) & Chris at bay behind the #35. As Kamrath's car began to fade, Chris and Tony's cars got stronger. Al Inglis also ran a strong race as did Dwayne Baker.
There was nothing wrong with the way any of the top 5 drove, though I think Walter's entry into 3 on the last lap was probably more than he intended spinning out the 22.
Good LLM race. Best of the day in my opinion. On the other hand... the LM race was caution filled and early on, two of the best cars were eliminated in Watson and McHattie, which definitely made for a strange and way too long race. Perhaps the cautions should have been counted before the half way mark.
I thought the Thunder car race was pretty good, albeit in a sense, it went by fast after the first two cautions, because they just floored it afterwards.
The Mod race was okay, but it too did drag on.
I thought the Super Late race was excellent. Some tough breaks for a couple of the cars. The weather was fantastic, stands were packed and there wasn't a camping spot left!
Good show. Yes, it ran long, but the event went off without a hitch, a few scary wrecks, some interesting personal battles (in and out of the race cars...) and of course, great weather. Just over 10 1/ 2 hours of racing. Long day - yes but no major super crashes except in the LLM race at the end. I think most fans would rate this years AC event as a very good one. Some of the teams complained (length) to be sure, but overall the racing was good and definitely had its moments.
