I dont follow Indy car alot but the races I watched, whenever I saw Dan Wheldon on tv he was always smiling and joking and seemed like a guy that you would like to meet. Tragic circumstances today. Starting at the back trying to win a 5 million $ bonus, half for him and half for a fan, also the largest field of cars this year, he is involved in a horrible crash with a number of other cars on lap 12 sending his car into the air and into the catch fence. The race was stopped and after a 2 hour red flag it was announced he passed away.
He was 33 years old, born in England and lived in St. Petes Florida he leaves his wife and 2 children, 2 years old and 7 months.
The race was cancelled and the drivers did a 5 lap tribute as all the crews lined up along pit lane. R.I.P. Dan Wheldon.

My wife and I are down here in Vegas for the race. Very sad at the track ,lot of people crying as they leave. We are staying at Mandalay Bay and that's where all the teams are at to. A lot of tears also at the hotel.. RIP. Dan.
