Yeah well the fact that rain has blown in so many nights this year at other tracks, is good reason NOT to cancel with only a 30-40% chance. I'm 10 km from the track, its hazey, you can even see some blue sky through the haze. Really glad I stayed up to 2 am working on the car last night 🙁
The season is to short at Kawartha. They need to do away with the weeks off for hillbilly events like the Millbrook fair. Like really.
As for a rain date, they can't use Saterday, as some guys run other places that night and would be upset. Sundays, unless I'm wrong are a horse racing night, or if not, I bet it creates some issue with cleanup/setup around the horse races. Also there are by-laws about how late the track can run, that could possibly limit rain days..
Don't cancell with a 30% chance of rain (I remeber the second week, which was teh first week we actually ran, it was raining in Peterborough at 3:30 and they still went ahead..) and don't have a week off for every local farmer/mule/plow/2nd rate country singer show.
This is ridiculous. I can't remember a track cancelling a night when there was a chance, SMALL CHANCE, of rain in the forecast. I know Barrie cancelled early this year but I can't remember the forecast. It WAS bad as I recall. Glad we don't live in BC. It has a chance of rain almost every day. We'd never race. As 3-wide said the Weathernetwork has it at 40% and 10% overnight. Just a simple question but is there more to this? And it was fan appreciation night. Isn't that the night where they appreciate the fans that support them. The fans that would go to the track with a questionable forecast ( although I don't believe this one is that bad ) are the ones that do deserve the appreciation. Some pray for rain. I pray for a clear night and a night of missing some awesome racing action. If it does rain and they are proven right by cancelling how, many more shows will get cancelled in the event of a slight chance of rain. What will the percentage be then. 30 20 10 ? I'm PO'D.
Maybe they cancelled it early cause Derek is out west with the Canadian Tire Series
Real problem is fan appreciation night is a bigger draw. I don't think many people are going to check the website or call to see if its cancelled. Had it not been for seeing it on THIS SITE, I would've been at the gate with my car.
We appreciate you driving here to see the race, cept we cancelled it for a 30% change of ran. Not nice...
Rain isnt coming till after 2 am i saw and carried thru to Saturday nite.
I guess everyone should cancel now. No Cup on tv, we can go fishing.
