Well KD opened it's 2009 season under clear skies.....to bad it didn't stay that way ::)
Car Counts were... just by my counting.
Thunder Cars:14
OSCAAR:14
Mini Stock:19
LM:22
All the heats went off without incident, untill the 2nd LM heat... that seen a few spins, and a bit of a pile up on the front stretch.
The Semi-Features & Consi's went off clean as well....with some really competitive racing.
Thunder Car Feature:Wille Reyns
Whata battle between Reyns & Donaldson, Wille ran Kyle down...to take the lead, but Kyle would not give up pulled a cross over move on him ...and the 2 raced side-by-side lap after lap untill Donaldson got caught behind a lap car, and thats all Reyns needed to take off.
It's gonna be one heck of a battle between thoese two all season..... and theres a few other guys that are right there as well.
Mini Stock:Too Moroney
Wild race....lotta 2-3 wide racing.... a few spins, some real competitive racing threwout the pack, the mini stock field is a good one this year, I also must say the paint style of all the Moroney cars this year is really neat.
So then OSCAAR's pull onto track...and here comes the rain >:(
waited it out a bit.....got the track dry, cars pull back onto track..and it starts again, at this point the night was called off, it was said that both the LM feature & OSCAAR Feature will be rescheduled at a later date.
I am really pumped about the LM field at KD, we knew it would be stout and it did not disappoint from the racing that took place in the heats & semi features. 22 cars on opening night is impressive to. add a strong mini-stock count...and a competitive thunder car field...and it's a recipe for a great race season at Kawartha.....lets hope the rain is willing to cooperate as well.
Good to see Kawartha car counts were pretty good for opening night.By looking around at LM counts tonight you (Kawartha ) had 22 while Delaware who was to have twin 30's features had 20 plus cars show up at Delaware but unfortunally again mother nature wins out again (rain). These 2 tracks alone had 42 plus Late Models which shows that Late Model racing is alive and well in Ontario.Should show for big car counts in Specials like APC300 .
Only 14 OSCAAR? That's not good considering Kawartha usually draws their largest fields. Could be very small numbers for other tracks hosting OSCAAR this summer.
Anyone have a list of the OSCAAR and LM drivers that were there?
My 2009 Race Count: 15
