I hope this doesn't turn into a bash session because that is not my intent, I would like some ideas.
Looking at the payout for last nights race, is there anything that I, as a simple fan, can do to help get the purse up to a respectable amount?
I go to my 2-3 races, buy a few souvenirs, and don't bad mouth the series, trying to get some buddies to give it a shot, but outside of that I can't think of anything I can do.
The reason I am asking this, is that a buddy of mine finished 11th in a dirt late model show last night and received US $4350 for that effort. 1st was $42 000 and second payed $20 000.
I'm not thinking we can get it that high, although it would be nice, but man, that's a late model show!
Anyway, what can a fan do to help OUR series?
Talk to every major company like I do and promot the series and point them to Nascar Canadian Tire Series contact Richard Coughlin.
I'm curious what the source was on that payout info.
Not that I'm doubting Evan...I'm just wondering if there was some sponsor/contingency/fender sticker money thats not being made public.
Cuz, man, that sounds awful low.
Just for comparison, Benny Gordon took home over 2.5 times more purse money for his win last night, while the winner of the Iowa Grand National race won just under 2 times what Don Thompson won. If you look at comparable purses (ie. Grand National) I think it's NASCAR that pays ridiculously low....

I can understand trying to hook up teams with sponsors, but why in the **** should we be forced to do NASCAR's dirty work?
