David Didero who has driven the #71 Cathcart Trucking Chevrolet in the Ontario Sportsman Series is hanging up his helmet for good due to a crash that happened earlier this year at Cayuga Speedway that has injured his neck and back. Didero was told by Doctor's that he could not sustain another crash without causing series damage, so instead will take the time off to recover.

Didero has turned the driving duties over to 17 year old Jesse Pontello, who has been working with Mid America Motorsports since September of last year. Pontello has been in training since September 2006 and honing his driving skills down South at the Finish Line Racing School in Florida, as well has been driving in the Dirt Racing Series all summer in both Canada and the USA.

Pontello was not scheduled to drive for Mid America Motorsports until next year in the OSS and the NASCAR CTS programs, but due to the situation will start up a little earlier then expected.
Didero says they will run Jesse in the September 1st event at Cayuga Speedway in the OSS race, and if a sponsor can be found will also run Jesse in the NASCAR CTS race at Kawartha Speedway later this fall.

"Jesse is a real race car driver- he walks it- he talks it- and he can drive it, and that is exactly what we need to enhance our racing program at current, and into the future" said Didero.

Look for the #71 Cathcart Trucking Chevrolet at Cayuga Speedway, September 1st to showcase 17 year old Jesse Pontello as the newest driver in the Ontario Sportsman Series.

No we will not be at Sunset due to previous obligations. Cayuga will be our next outing and we all look forward to it.
