It's no different than the Liberals and their sponsorship debacle... But then again if it's the Federal "Conservatives" they're just Liberals in Conservative clothing.

oops. Kinda went off on a rant. lol

Big difference. The liberals used it as means to put money in their party pocket and pay off their bagmen with out having their name attached. It was pretty easy to see who's name was attached to Pierre's car on Sunday. I could see it pretty easily on both the car and hauler. No secret back door deal there. And I do remember having to put the Canada sticker on the top of the windshield in Cascar and there was no name beside it but I know we didn''t get whole big bag of cash for having it on the car but some(Liberal)one did.

Tories' stock car sponsorship deal likely to finish short of checkered flag

With a long summer and a possable election waiting in the wings this fall or winter I'm not surprised the Conservative party is sponsoring a car for this national series. If you think about it the Conservative party gets it's name out to the racing fan and tells this loyal group they care about the sport they love and are doing it at the national level. The need for a majority the next time around is important and by this action the party is hedging it's position. The utilization of a politically active Quebec driver and national exposure at this level could help with needed votes.
It's something the race fan should be happy to see, if more national and international companies spent more supporting the sport it would grow faster in this country. I truly believe this sport has great potently but how long can we bring the car to the track with payouts as low as they are.
I would love to see a national event from coast to coast 18 to 20 events per year sellout crowds and new tracks and updated tracks with pay outs that make it possible for the sport to be stable and grow. At the end of the day the Conservative party gets it's name out Whit gets to rent a car and we know the bill is being paid. Thats better than some of the past ventures.

Just my thoughts

And to 22fan, its the Conservative party, not the government, that is sponsoring the car, whereas the sponsorship scandal was more about the Liberals using federal money.

Yes I well aware that it's the Conservative party that is sponsoring the car, and it is a fairly brilliant idea to get exposure... And I'd rather have a Conservative run parliament... Even though if given the choice, I'd rather have Ralph Klein over Stephen Harper, because this country needs a Prime Minister who won't take crap from the progressives regressives in the left, who if given the chance would ban all motorsport in Canada because it's not environmentally responsable (<Said with sarcastic/whiny tone).

Whew. Sorry about that rant, it kinda came outta right field. lol
