only 12 supers...that's pretty low.
any KD Late Models?
Well, I stopped in my shop for only the 3rd time in 3 months on Fri & talked to Darren Thring whom I work with there & he said that he'll not be going back to Flamboro after what happened to him last year. I believe that Larry Jackson was/is racing his Modified at Lancaster this weekend as well. Is kind of sad with the low car counts in the SLM's & also the Hobbies. As for the 400 fans in the stands, I remember in years past you had to get there early to get a decent seat as they would pack them in. How times have changed!
Elp Was at the show sat. Pretty good crowd for this time of year, maybe not so many in the general admission area but packed to the rafters in the pits.Great thundercar count and late model count oh ya 4s too. Llm should be a little higher today as pbo was running their last night of reg. season last night. I thought i saw the 84 of jackson running in the lates, might have been someone else driving though as it was off pace.Superlates were really down in numbers.
Watching Jeff Hanley's big bar soft spring set up work is worth the price of admission
Tape Talledega go watch Flamdega it's all good
I'm sure he did have a packed stands in the pits, what with all the minis & thunders there & that it was a "good" crowd for this time of the year, just that in years past he got a hell of a lot more. I will admit, I didn't know that Peterboro was running last night so yes, he may get a few more for the LC races today. I just got the impression from Darren that Larry was at Lancaster this weekend, but was a little hard to hear him with all the noise in my shop. If Larry is there this weekend, then he should be a good runner for the LM's, but maybe he did have someone else in the car last night - not sure as I wasn't there & won't be today. Have better things to do with my time than give Casale my money these days. I only went to the practice in May & not any regular races this year. Also, one has to remember that the stands in the pits are much smaller than the ones on the frontstretch, the main grandstands so yes, it does look packed.
Duken-I see what you mean re change-I've been to 10 tracks this year-probably 30 races and this is my third asphalt race of the season after Lancaster (Dunn Tire) in April or early May and Delaware last week. I live 17 miles from Flammy-that says it all.
Re the 400 fans-if Casale choses not to advertise, that's all he can expect. It becomes club racing like so many sports car groups evolved into, well off hobbyists running for little $$$.
I see why top drivers like David Elliot are frustrated when trying to sell a sponsor on why they should get involved when one looks at the anemic spectator count. A 4 x 6 ad in the Hamilton Spec wouldn't have cost that much.
Maybe it's time to ditch Oscaar and put the purse money into making it a really big LM show to finish the year off.
Anyways-couple more shows to go-Wyoming County, Perry NY has a nice 100 lap SST mod and 50 lap superstock show next Saturday (the 11th) at 4pm. Took about 2 1/2 hrs from Burlington last year. (Hwy 400 out of Buffalo and then hwy 20a east to Warsaw).
(I find the Super Dirt satelite shows that weekend run too long and track prep is bad by the second day at Rolling Wheels and Weedsport)
Then Oct 18-Brockville has a daytime sprint car show starting at 2pm!!!! Bring your goggles!
