This secenario happens 100 times a month in Ontario, usually cars end up in the infield and the car that hit the other car, if deemed at fault, goes to the back on the restart. Sometimes the best policy is to settle for 2nd or 3rd and talk to the driver after, or maybe his spotter. Sometimes they will come to your pit after and apologize and usually that lesson is a good one, lasting for the season.  When you give another car some grace, it comes back in good ways. That may have nothing to do with this incident, it's more of a general statement.

Not sure if anything happened in the first six laps of this race, something that would cause the 10 to be upset, so assuming not, the only conclusions have to be made by watching this video. The 10 is clearly faster, I would think the 72 spotter had to see that, maybe he did, maybe he told his driver, and maybe things were doomed regardless. It looks like the 72 got a little loose coming off turn 2 but when his car started to straighten it couldn't because the 10 was there. That's when the 10 has to back out, assuming he can back out, maybe he couldn't and unless we're in either car we really don't know. The video can't tell us that completely. Most people that quit do so when they think they were wrongly accused, not because they were punished.  

On a different take, I've had people wreck me very bad, they were so upset about wrecking me that I had to console them after...kind of weird but true.

I like the post about fans and how they perceive racers.  It's so true most racers love every aspect of this sport, fans, sponsors, promoters, competitors and most of all the action on the track.  As hard as it is, we need to be as much a gentleman on the track as we are in the pits. Fans  sometimes see a different person on the track than the one they seen in the pits and that's too bad because there's no reason we can't be the same person in both places. We can't afford it to be any other way, without our competitors we have no division and soon we can't do what we love...race.
