So I've been thinking that, in honor of the awards banquet coming up in a few weeks, we might be able to do a sort of awards thread here. Evan started one for the CRO faithful at large, but I'm wondering about just for Delaware. What's on your Top - Worst - Best - Scariest - Funniest - Coolest list for 2009?

All I ask is we keep it good spirited and in good fun.

Also, we need a name. I wanted to come up with something that played off the Grammys, but the best I could come up with is the "Dellys", and I'm thinking we can do better. (of course, maybe a pastrami on rye would make a good trophy.)

Maybe if we get enough responses I'll see if I can whip something up for the banquet on the 24th on behalf of CRO.

So, name the award, who's nominated, and why.

I'll start with a couple.

The "Whoa...that's gotta hurt" award goes to Tyler Finlay. On June 5th, the second Powerade Mod feature of the night saw what I thought was the worst wreck of the year. Tyler Hendricks was leading early on when Shawn Thompson passed him down the backchute. When they got to turn 3 Hendricks and Finlay got together and Findlay went piling hard into the wall, utterly destroying the 59 Modified. It was almost two months before we saw Finlay on the track again.

The "Flying Doughnut" award goes to Chris, the fronstretch gate keeper. In the mdst of the Transmission Direct Endurance Feature on Aug 15th, Stephen Richmond lost a tire on his 10 car on the frontstretch and it went bouncing high and over the fence. In a magnificent display of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Chris caught the tire right in the shoulder as he was trying to get out of the way. A few scratches and bruises ensued, and a trip to Race-Med later, Chris was right back at his post.

Kennedy winning the APC300, is a sure bet. The truck guys for piecing their rides back together for the last two events (good job guys). Well, just being back to racing made my year. Our crew had such a blast, just being there. Most of my crew were green this year, and my guys made every effort to help everyone, and learn. So many other teams showed my guys lots while I was out turning laps, or main bearings.

Transmission Direct for sponsoring Enduro's. As well as Ultimate, and Demar guys. The Mc Cullough boys for being great sports, and giving away that bike for the kids. That was just great for the kids. I'm rambling... must be the Coors.

Cool, thanks for the response.

In case anyone needs a little memory jog, you can now find all the archived Shadow Reports for 2009 right HERE.

I'll sort them out and clean them up a bit later, but as far as I can tell, they're all there now.

This is all good stuff. Keep em coming guys. I was starting to think everyone was on vacation.

I'd considered the 01 team for that little number. That was back on Partsource 142 night wasn't it?

And yes, Kennedy definitely gets a nod for pulling off the APC 200 after such a crappy season.

Anyone else have anything nice they want to say about anyone? By the way, if you don't want to go public, you can PM me too.
