And no, I don't mean driving to close to the guy in front of you. 🙂
This is a sort of a branch off from another thread.
the-fan threw out the idea of a little pre-race tailgate party. Its been my observation, over the years, that not a whole lot of that goes on at Delaware. Maybe its time to turn that around.
I suspect the reason this doesn't happen a lot is because of the nature of Friday night racing: I'd think most fans here go home from work, scarf down some groceries, pack up the Mrs and the kiddies, and get out to the track just before the races start. Often I find myself just getting out there as the anthems are playing. Could something like this fly?
Having said that, in answer to the-fan, if enough guys'd be interested in a little pre-race hot dog and soda pop chin wag, that might be do-able. (provided the track said okey dokey) I don't have a real portable BBQ, but I make a kickass pot of Chili, (hot, but not stupid-hot 😉 ) and I have a coleman stove. Could probably throw a pot of weenies or corn on the nob there too.
Maybe it IS high time for some type of informal fan club or support group. I know a few guys here personally, but I don't know most of the posters here face to face and would sorta like to put some faces to the handle.
I'll tell you what I CAN and will do if anyone wants: I have a little pin-back button maker. If anyone wants a button with your Canadian Racing Online handle on it, just so you can put it on your hat or jacket so we can spot one another in a crowd, I'd be happy to make those...no charge for Delaware guys.
Understand here that I'm not advocating a "club" with memberships, dues, newsletters etc. (not that I'd want to run...though I probably would join.) But I'd like to meet some of you guys.
Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
I'd be up for some tailgating! probably won't be racing to much so may as well party 😀

I'm sorry to hear that. You getting out of the game? (I mean I'm sorry you won't be racing too much)

Ya, that's my problem as well. I get out at 3:30 and by the time I fight the traffic coming from Oakville, on the QEW & 403 I'm lucky to make it there for 2 for 1 hotdogs.
I've got my fingers crossed, our company is thinking of 4 x10's instead of 5 X 8 hr shifs on days, with Friday off. Now that's right in my backyard, but it may not be until next season that this will take place. The downside to all of this is that we have to work 5 X 10 hr shifts on afternoons. Well I guess the extra 10 hrs overtime on afternoons will help support my habit, so I'm not complaining. 😉
Some of us use to do that. We would get there early and have some fun! It would take me 1.5 hours to get there with two stops at Tim Hortons 😀 and we would have a few drinks and something to eat on the bbq before heading into the track. There is a big tree straight out from the sidewalk from the main gate. That is where we would be. It was a lot of fun.
