Out west in B.C. during certain winter conditions can require you to have chains (carried in the vehicle at minimum) ensuring you have potential to get through on some highways - which if you think about it, if it's that bad, you have to be pretty crazy in the first place if those conditions are present.

B.C. and Alberta allow studs, which are illegal in Southern Ontario - which is one of the more crazy rules I find here....
