Does anybody know if any Delaware car are going to be racing at Flam octoberfest or Pete Fall Classic?
Sorry I forgot to mention great updating of DEL website as results are already up great job.Maybe other tracks could take notice.
look for Pearn and Vanderwyst at Holland NY's rescheduled MAARA Bud 100 Sept 16. Unfortunately, this will be running against Oswego's ROC LM race and the ROC promoter is offering the highest finishing MAARA regular a $2000 bonus.
Too bad Holland couldn't have rescheduled to the 9th and moved their demo/school bus races weekend back a week instead.
I think you might look for Vanderwyst and Pearn also at Lancaster's US Open weekend which again has a MAARA series race. (sept 23-24).
Both tracks are an easy half hour from downtown Buffalo.
All in all it was entertaining if you did not get wrecked, l felt bad for Kennedy the first time l have ever seen him competative, but Ron Sheridan, was involved in a bunch of bunch of cautions,, just an impatient idiot, should know better at his home track. It seemed like every caution he was a part of it from the start ,a real shame he had a very good car , but too much car not enough driver. Idiot of the race award to Ron and Dupuis.
All in all I thought it was a pretty decent show, but I think you have to feel for Delaware management. They put up an unheard of amount of money for this area and only 31 cars turned out and a couple of them were actually LLMs; personally I was expecting more than that. Undoubtedly the fact that Alstar was running the same day hurt the car count, but I was very surprised that only one LM from Kawartha showed up and only three from Flamboro. I can't help but wonder if the rules differences played a part as the Delaware cars do seem stronger than the Alstar cars; maybe some guys felt it was better to have a legitmate shot at $5000 than an outside shot at $10000.
There were a couple of things I didn't like however : the 100 lap qualifiers and counting caution laps. With only 15 - 16 cars in each race 100 laps was about 75 too many in my opinion. And counting caution laps in the final race seemed absolutely unneccesary - there was no curfew concern, no time constraints, so I don't see any reason to count caution laps. There were quite a few laps run off under caution in the final 100, I would have liked to see 100 green flag laps.
Overall though, it was a good show for it's first time. I hope Delaware sticks with this event, I think it has potential to be a very big annual event.
