A great night of racing all around. Â Super Stock turnout was fantastic and the race was quite good, and NCATS didn't disappoint. Â It was a little boring in the middle there with the field getting strung out but cautions made for close racing all over again. Â I still think that race should've ended under yellow with the first green/white/checker, but as the announcer mentioned, the GWC rule is still "up to official's discretion" so I guess they figured we'd have another go at it.
I was really pulling for ol' Gaunt there at the end, unfortunately he had a poor restart, but that guy's gotta catch a break one of these days and get a solid sponsor behind him. Â Dude can wheel a racecar.
And just like I suspected and everyone said, Whitlock was up there at the end and just barely missed a Top 5... Â He was running, I think, 4th or 5th on the last restart and the car just didn't go, but he still ended up in 7th, I think. Â But considering he was at the back of the pack most of the night, I'd say he had a decent run.
Oh and how about Joey Malcolm in 6th, what a solid run for him, keeping his nose clean most of the night!
I agree the track definitely seems to be coming to the drivers, slowly. Â There were a few cars that made the outside work, Kennington being the most obvious, but also the #76 Super Stock, who battled for 1st and 2nd up there for quite some time. Â It looks like coming out of 4 in particular it seems to be doing a good job.
Gaunt had great restarts all night on that one his motor went south!and ended our night!to bad too we had a great car a podium finish for sure!
2fst4u, what was the general feeling of the drivers about our hometown track?
Also great run, except for the end, thanx for the show.
i alot of drivers and crew were happy to be back at delaware!
This was my first time to Delaware, after years of hearing people talk about the place. I arrived Friday and camped till this morning with my 5 year old. WOW! What a fabulous facility! I can see why people love the place so much. The atmosphere in the stands was electric. The track is the most family friendly track that I have been to. I will be back for sure, probably very soon! Next time I will see if I can find ShadowRacer and say Hi, but I was afraid of leaving my seat because the chances of it being there when I came back were very slim! Sorry to the rest, but the finest track in Ontario Has to be Delaware!
This website had very good photo coverage of the event: http://www.flagworld.com/photos/v/2009/2009-06-06/
