This is the have-to-work early version folks.

Late Model Triple Crown 1 won by Sheridan who led from the start and battled pressure from 20-Lindsay and 28-Robblee. It was a three car show up at the front and it looked like Kennedy had it in to be up there with them except for some contact between him and 00-Cox that sent Kennedy to the back as an accident car.

There was one major incident that saw 72-Thompson going around on the frontstretch and getting tagged hard by 21-Pritiko. Pritiko ended up in the turn 1 fence and got the long drive back on the hook.

Towards the end, Sheridan and Lindsay had gootten a bit of a lead, and the real battle of the race was for 3rd between 81-Gresel, Robblee and 4-Urlin.

Final result was Sheridan, Lindsay, Robblee, Urlin, Ramsay and Box after Gresel got out of shape on the last lap and fell back to 7th.

Late Model Triple Crown 2
Starts with the 00's on the front row alongside 51-Robblee, floowed by Kennedy and Gresel. Doesnt take long for Kennedy to grap top spot. By the 10th lap the order is Kennedy, Cox, Gresel out on the run, 4-Urlin 4th then Sheridan Lindsay and Robblee.

At this point, one of the more frightening crashes of the year takes place. John Urlin comes down the frontchute sparks-a-flying with no rubber on his right rear. In turn 1 he loops it around still going full tilt, then hammers the wall broadside on the driver's side, hitting so hard all 4 tires leave the ground. Red flag on the speedway. It takes Jon a long time to get out of the car. I can't say for sure  what happened but my guess is that he was knocked cold for a few moments. (We heard he wasn't responding on radio) Regardless, he made it out and did walk back to the pits on his own 2 feet.

After the restart, Kennedy is still a rocket on rails and reopens his lead while Gresel goes to work on Cox for 2nd. Its the battle of the race: at one point Gresel gets alongside and they drag race for a couple of laps for 2nd, but Cox prevails in that one and the order stays 10-00-81. Behind them, Robblee, Sheridan and Lindsay are waging battle for 4th, with a great side by side duel between Robblee and Lindsay.

1st to Jesse "the Birthday Boy" Kennedy, 2nd to Cox, 3rd to Gresel, 4th to Lindsay, 5th to Robblee.

Vintage Modifieds

Off the start, the 39 coupe shoots out into 1st while 6-Donkers and 81-Shaw drag race for the 2nd spot. Donkers gets the best of that battle but then the car stalls out on the frontstretch and just barely makes it around the end of pit wall to duck in. Didnt matter however because 81 had a slowdown and the 00 car of Easton stalls out as well to bring the caution out.

At the restart, 39-Stickel is still out front, but hes got 9-Lyons right with him. Lyons makes the pass for the lead and brings 0-Shaw with him. 29-Henwwod gets through as well to form the top 3. 0-Shaw tucks in behind Lyons and makes a dive to the inside to come up with the lead. Shaw and Lyons begin to run, leaving Henwood and 18-Keen to battle for 3rd. Keen makes that pass and slowly begins to reel in Shaw and Lyons.

Now just after halfway, Keen is knocking on Lyons' door for 2nd but Lyon's manages to hold him off. In a bizarre twist, we discover that this battle turned out to be the battle for the lead. It looked like 0-Shaw has it well in hand until he goes into 4 on the last lap and just dies right there. Looked form up top like the 0 car just ran out of gas. Lyons gets by for the win and Shaw has to setlle for 5th.

Super Stock

Well, sometimes the wild cards hurt you and sometimes they help. 24-Richmond was in the lead after the 2nd lap with 76-Reid and 33-Fothergill racing hard for 2nd. Reid wins that battle and he brings 77-Lake through with him. Now Richmond is in front with Reid and Lake bearing in. Reid looks hungry tonight and reels Richmond in quickly. However lap traffic is coming up and in the SS division, sometimes that's a problem. Richmond tiptoes past 74-Bowman and gets clear without incident, however Reid and Lake don't get so lucky, getting wide enought to allow Richmond a nice lead.

Of course, sooner or later, caution does fly for the 74. Something happens in 3 and there's cars everywhere. 60-Ott who was looking well hooked up tonight and was sitting about 7th, loses a tire and ends his night.

After the restart, Richmond stays out front and begins to run on the field. Reid now had 84-Smith with him and Lidster and Lawrence aren't far behind. Great physical battle between Smith and Lidster with some contact and a few slammed doors, but Smith hangs on for 3rd.

Win to Richmond, 2nd to Reid, 3rd to Smith, 4th to Lidster, 5th to Lawrence.

Pit full O Vintage Modifieds!

While on track there was miles and miles of hotrods.

Louie McColl passed his car along to new guy Tim McGregor from St Thomas. (A sharp eyed observer might notice the ex 51 car in the background with Devon Bloemendal's number on it.)

Ron Shaw's Hobby Car

closeup of some of Shaw's deck lid artwork

Jason Keen's machine

and our old buddy Gary Elliott in his crate powered machine. Gary had some clutch trouble that kept him out of the heat race but he was out for the feature.

My all time favorite Vintage Modified. Broke my heart to see it running last. Ray used to rock the house at Delaware. Must have been having an off night.

Ron Easton getting a little help in the feature.

Jon Urlin getting a lot of help back to the pits. Jon had one of the most frightening crashes we've seen this year.

My childhhod hero, Earl Ross stopped by for opening ceremonies.

And Derek...slumming in the fender-car pits. (shhh....don't tell anyone  ;))

Phil Shaw's machine. Phil had an awesome battle with Steve Lyons, and had 1st place in the bag until he rounded turn 3 on the last lap and suddenly the 0 just died, handing the victory to Lyons in the 9 car.

Thanks for your approval.  :-

Thats what the OARC has been bringing forth for quite a few seasons now. Hopefully the move to the crate will bump things up a bit in the future.
