well the sun is out in east london, but is cold. I sure hope they get something on the track today. Its been way too long........lol
Well I think the day will be a no go Ice pellets like crazy Damm Mother Nature O well put away the snow suit again What to do know Know we might have to wait till the Nationwide Race at 3:00
well they ran. first time i can remember seeing Late Models racing in the snow!
it was interesting, was very, very happy to atleast get a couple good shakedown sessions in ;D
Yes they did run. Looking outside at the 1/2 inch of snow/hail on my back deck this morning, it was questionable that they would run at all, but it turns out they did. The pits were a sea of lumber-jackets and tuques, and I'm quite certain the pitside coffee sales were brisk.
Not too much to report really, lots of regulars in attendance and a pretty good crop of new guys too. Talking to a few of the LM and Mod teams, they didn't really get the chance to push their cars too hard because the flurries that kept popping up kept the track a little moist at times.
Apologies to the enduro guys. There were a number of them on hand but I don't know the division well enough to know who's new or what. There were a couple of enduro-trucks, a couple of 4-6 bangers, Dougy109, and a good handful of the usual suspects.
Of the Friday night crowd, here's who was there
--------------------------
Late Models
33-Jamie Grover in the brand new "Franken-car"
22-Jamie Ramsay
5-Jay Christie in the new underslung LM. (not the old Sportsman)
37-David Elliott
81-Andrew "Grizz" Greisel
--------------------------
Super Stocks
84-Smith
60-Ott (hope JWO managed to score some chili)
04-Humphrys
77-Lake (sporting the new Silver/Red livery....spiffy)
9-DeJesus (Sporting a new green/black w red numbering, a la Mark Martin and Danica...also very spiff.)
28-Lawrence (blue and white so far, looked unfinished as of yet, but it appears to be a different scheme from last year.)
17-Rob Anderton (new entry this year)
---------------------------
Demar Aggregates Trucks
The influx of new blood on this day seemed to be most prevalent in the truck division, as far as this practice day was concerned. It looks like 2010 is going to be the year of the "team" in the truck division.
99-Koricina was on the track with a little bit of pink trim to go with her familiar black. Team Koricina's newest entry is Matt Koricina in the 93 truck....a look-alike except with red trim instead of pink.
16-Hosang was in the house sporting some new equipment after last year's misadventures in the rain. She's got the same livery as we've come to know her for, and she apparently also has a teammate in Ray Giesem. (apologies if I spelled it wrong) They didn't have the second truck out today, but Ray will be sporting the number 15.
Brand new this year is 17-Mickey Brydges who's graduated from the Krown Jrs.
Also brand new in the Trucks is Gary Triska, who we also know as "Blue Thunder" in the Chaos division. He'll be running number 57, allied with 56-Showler. Showler was there too, with the 56 truck dressed up in a darker shade of blue than we're used to.
Also there was a yellow number 3 truck that I didn't get a name or anything on. Someone told me it wasn't one of the Roys, so I have no idea. Looked like he was running pretty good though.
--------------------------------
Powerade Mods
39-McCullough, 88-Shipway and 38-Hendricks were in attendance. Shippy and McCullough with the same paint as last year, Hendricks with a new eye-popping red, white and blue livery. Very nice.
New Mod driver in attendance as well, in Gary Kallies, number 87. You might know Gary as the Promotions One guy that takes care of most of Delaware's photography needs.
So thats it for practice day 1. I'm sure the cold affected the turnout a little, so we'll see who shows next week. Hopefully it'll be a little warmer.
Shadow out.
