Pre-Race

Stephen Richmond suffered a major mishap in practice. He broke an axle into turn 4 and apparently planted the 24 car pretty hard into the wall. Too much damage to be race ready, so Team Perkins jumped in and loaned them the 3 car for the evening. Kept them in the points but unfortunately they were pretty much a non-factor for the evening's events.

Heats

Truck Heat 1
Taken by Bloemendal, 2nd to 15-Marche, 3rd to 7-Clark

Truck Heat 2
Taken by our own Steve McCaw in the 82 truck after a tooth and nail battle with Showler, Fothergill, Depuis and Zagarodny.

Super Stock Heat 1
Had a little excitement as 04-Humphreys sends 69-Root spinning down the backstretch. In a 1 in a million shot, Root hits the Safety Truck parked at the pit-chute. Everyones OK though, and I dont believe too much damage to the truck. (They'll have to park that thing a little further in I'm thinking) Black flag for Humphreys Ist place - Rob Windis subbing for Anderton in the 17, 2nd to Shields, 3rd to 76-Ried.

Super Stock Heat 2
An odd moment when 9-Scott OConnor (subbing for Dejesus) gets a mystery black flag for no apparent reason...but we find out after its for not having his window net up. 99-Nagy takes a long lead and doesnt look back. 2nd to Lidster, 3rd to Smith.

Late Model Heat 1
1st to 27-Box, 2nd (and a shout out to the Barrie Boys) went to 10x-Shepherd, 3rd to 20-Lindsay

Late Model Heat 2
Featured the 5 car normally piloted by Jay Christie driven tonight by our own Racer43, Jay Doerr. Great battle for 1st with 14-Emery, 72-Thompson, and 22-Ramsay. It comes to a bad end when they end up 3 wide coming out of 2, Thompson high, Emery in the middle and Ramsay down low. Emery cuts down and Ramsay goes right up and over his hood. Didnt seem to be any serious damage to anyone, but it did take them out of the race. When the smoke cleared, it was 1st to Thompson, 2nd to Sheridan, 3rd to 4-Urlin.

Demar Aggregates Truck Feature.

This was a good tough race. After the usual first couple of laps of 3 wide chaos, it shakes out with 01-Bloemendal taking he point and laying as much distance as he can while the usual front runners are fighting their way up. Great battles as 56-Showler, 55-Adraeinsen, and 33-Fothergill fight their way thru the field and with each other. By the 9th lap, Fothergill is away and reeling in Bloemendal, and Adraeinsen is having the boots put to him by Showler. Adraeinsen manages to stay ahead however. At approx. the halfway point, Showler gets a nose under and gets past Adaeinsen, and brings 75 Dupuis with him. Dupuis in turn manhandles his truck past Showler to take 3rd. At lap 16 Fothergill is right on Bloemendals bumper and after a couple of curcuits takes it outside and drag races Bloemendal almost a full lap to take the lead. Bloemendal stays right with him though. Now Showler is trying to muscle his spot back from Dupuis

Now the leaders are coming up on lap traffic, and Bloemendal actually outfoxes Fothergill to take the lead back. That was an attention grabber. Bloemendal manages to stay out front but then caution comes out as 7-Clark and 15-Marche get together and spin in turn 2. (We heard afterward that Clark suffered an injury in the fracas. I heard a dislocated shoulder...but don't quote me on it. Hope its not too bad Derek.)

After the restart< Bloemendal hangs on for a bit but gets a little wide in 2 to open the door again for Fothergill. Fothergill accepts and now the 33 is in front again. Last lap sees both Showler and Depuis muscle past Bloemendal. (at this point Bloemendal looks like something is going away slightly on the truck)

At the end its Fothergill, Dupuis, Showler, Bloemendal and Adraeinsen...with birthday boy Tom Zagarodny pulling off a 6th coming from dead last.

Super Stock Feature

There's some goofy business at the start with 74-Bowman starting outside pole kind of gets in the way and crosses everyone up, holding up most of the outside row. At the restart they even it out by starting him inside row so he can do the same to them...so it balanced out. After the fun is over, its 17 Windis in front, but Lidster's not far behind and gaining fast. Lidster is followed by Smith and Lawrence.
Bad luck for JWO Racin, as the 60 car gets looped in 3, 04-Humphreys crashes into him, and then 69-Root piles in too. Ott is back out before the caution period is over, sporting a few less body panels.

Long story short, Lidster gets out front and is followed by Lawrence who makes a good go of it but can't get past. Ott is involved in one more mishap with 66-Bloemendal, and seems to be losing more and more of his car as the race progresses, sending up first a few sparks, then the odd rooster tail of sparks...and at one point sending some part from underneath the car bouncing up into the turn 1 fence.

1st to Lidster, 2nd to Lawrence, 3rd to O-Connor, 4th to Windis, 5th to Nagy

Late Model Feature

20-Lindsay takes an early lead while 51-Robblee and 10x-Shepherd duke it out for 2nd. Soon 4-Urlin goes by both of them and sets his sights on Lindsay. By the halfway point, its Lindsay with Urlin on his bumper, 52-Sheridan reeling them both in, and being followed by Ramsay, Thompson and Shepherd. By the halfway flags, the top 3 are running bumper to bumper, with Urlin trying the inside of Lindsay every lap and Sheridan hoping they both screw up.

Now Sheridan gives it a try, pulling alongside Urlin for a side by side battle for 2nd, but he cant get by. Urlin uses the bumper to get Lindsay loose and takes the lead from him. Sheridan follows shortly after. In the waning laps, Ramsay is up to Lindsay but cant get by.

1st to Urlin, 2nd to Sheridan, 3rd to Lindsay, 4th to Ramsay and 5th to Thompson.

Well folks, that's the "Gotta work 1st thing in the morning" version of the Shadow Report. Kudos to Bloemendal for making Fothergill work for it, great run for Zagarody, too bad about Richmond, and back to the shop for Ott.

Also wanted to say thanks to Steve McCaw. Bumped into him up top before the races and he had one hat left for autographing. Steve came down to where we were sitting (Out in the turn 1 boonies) and signed the hat for a young first timer that came out with us tonight. Hayden was definitely impressed and thought it was cool when "his guy" won the heat race. Thanks a lot Steve...you made his night!

Thats it for me tonight. Enjoy the Enduro tomorrow nite, and be sure to check the weekly top 10 on Tuesday night!

See ya's in the funnypages.

Rough night for the #24, but our sincere thanks to Don Perkins for jumping in his car and going and getting the #3 so Stephen could salvage some points for the evening.  Guess I won't be seeing much of the "boyz" for a couple of weeks.

The story is true. When the 15 turned down to block me, I was at his door( which doesnt even matter coming out of a corner), he pretty much just caught the RF tire. It ripped the steering wheel out of my left hand, but caught my right, dislocating my shoulder. And I have never ran power steering on anything. It popped back in during the last green flag run. Still salvaged an 11th, but probably has an honest 7th place truck. Oh well, try again next week. ( might not be me in the truck, though)
